It's obvious that Cedar Point is shaking over SFWoA.
Has anyone seen their new deal where juniors get in free with the purchase of an adult ticket?? Just saw the commercial today.
When has Cedar Point ever done a mid-summer discount?
Seems as though we're seeing the competition sooner than we thought. Since "they" have Sea World, the point's g2 have something to draw the families & youngsters.

You're looking into it too much.. SFWoA's attendence for this season is lower than they expected. It's worse than the -7% that CF is showing.
Six Flag's attendence is down, word is out that X-Flight is overrated... and they need people in the gates. Why you think thier season passes (if bought before X-Mas) were actually cheaper than a single regular season ticket? Word was out about how bad the park was last year. CP is also down.. but also wants people in the gates.
People look too much into the whole SFWoA vs. CP thing. They are two differnet parks.

Actually, I prefer not to have people in the gates when I'm there but......CP has to make money.

The CP attendence doesn't seem to be horribly low. The CP admission and food prices really seem to be hitting the comfort zone of most people though! If there is an economic recession, I think more people will be at SFWoA (bad economic conditions - more people not working. Out of work people have slightly increased recreational spending, and SF is cheaper than CP)

A bad day at CP is better than a good day at work.
To quote Mr. Kinzel for the second time tonight...
"Today, we're hearing more and more about a recession and the economy slowing. However, the regional amusement park industry has proven over the years to be fairly recession-resistant. With our parks being within easy driving distance of their major markets and by positioning the parks as attractive alternatives to more expensive, long-distance vacations, we're confident that they will maintain their attendance levels and will continue to grow guest spending."

I'm not gonna go there. My friends say the bathrooms are dirty and a lot of the park is blacktop so it is really hot.
Cedar Point is #1 FOREVER!

"Cedar Point: Kinda leaves other parks in the dust!"
Usually my brother gets free tickets to SF through his company picnick. He asked me if I was interested this year in going to SFWoA for free; I declined the offer after two bad expiriences last year. SFWoA is however making Cedar Point more competitive. As Clarkbar said about the TV commercials, there is also coupons for 2 day tickets, and discounts for single admission for both the main park and Soak City in the Val-Pak coupon mailer this past week.
I went to SF last monday and had a good time overall, but there were a few things that I didn't like. #1. On all coasters (except: Serial Thriller, and the Villian) they were running only ONE train, thank goodness that it was a monday and we didn't have a long wait on ANY of the coasters. #2. The park staff was VERY rude (will, most of it) #3. Batman: Knight Flight was down becasue of lift motor trouble, and I didn't see one soul working on it all day (CP almost always opens a broken ride in the same day it broke down!) Also Minderaser was down, but that was because the boomerang at Knott's became stuck and Vekoma shutdown all boomerang rides. #4. Alot of the rides including X-Flight were breaking down ALOT, about 6 times a day! So, as you see alot of things mad me mad, but like I said, I had a good time, overall!
I have been to both CP and SFWOA this summer. CP beat out SFWOA no debate about it for me. I have been going to CP for the past 18 years and will always love it. But one thing I can't denie is that SWOA will give CP a run for it's money in the up coming years. To tell you the truth, and I wish it weren't so, SFWOA will be the #1 park in Ohio 5-6 years from now.
I had free tickets gave them away. I feel if I go I would be cheating. it would be like I was having an affair on my wife. any hoe I hear it is way over rated.
I have to agree that CP is better than SF in Ohio..but i like the fact that i have so many parks to go to in just a few surrounding states. And yet as much as I like CP..long live Kennywood!

My friend and I have had a debate on what park to go to Cedar Point or SF? I love Cedar Point, but I really wanna try the X-flight? Who's been on it?
Worth going to ride it?
The first time i went there...Xflight and a few other coaster were not running..then the second time i went i got to ride it..it is a good ride..a different experince..but dont go to SF just for the sake of that coaster. >If this is going to be like one of your few times of going to a park this year..Go to CP. More rides..more coasters. I cant spend a full day at Six Flags in Ohio. Not much to keep me there the whole day. We usually do a 4 to close at that park..the only time we end up staying all day is if the lines keep us there.
Rumor has it that Six Flags "Worlds of Time Waiting" spends considerable less time training employees. So unless all train operation doesn't cause a blocking error you won't see all trains running.
I haven't been to that park in four years without at least two major rides being broke down days at a time. It was explained to me that they don't bother to order any extra parts from the manufacturers. They wait until the rides brake down to order the parts.

Gemini 100: 100
I think everyone is forgetting about the weather. Until last week, the weather has been miserable! I'm sure it has hurt the parks overall. But will be made up in July & August.

Right on Magnum is Sinking,
Their employees are very inexperienced, and always have an atittude!
And I also agree on how they can't even operate more than one train on many of their coasters

The discount promos are a contingency plan for a slow spring, which I think we can credit to crappy weather, that's all.
As for SFGL, they're not exactly packing them in either, which makes long lines there that much more irritating.

Futuristic bow-wow... do the dog catcher!
I thought X-Flight was "so-so". The experience is unique. I thought the loop was the best part. Way to short, way to much downtime, restraints are unsafe. During the entire time I had the feeling my feet were going to come out of that part of the restraint. The whole ride I was angling my feet upwards (like I was trying to touch the tops of my feet to my shins). I was actually concerned they may come out. Not the thing I wanted to worry about while riding. The restraints are hard to explain but anyone who has been on it knows what I am talking about. I went on XF two times. My second ride, when we hit the brake, run I wanted to see if I could pull one of my feet out to which I had no problem doing. But this is getting to long and out of the scope of this post so I will have to make a TR comparing the two parks soon.
