Fireworks Show

Anyone ever seen the 4th of July fireworks at CP? Is it worth going to watch it?

Yes, it worth it! They usually put on a great show. It's on the beach, so you can lay back in the sand and watch the show. It's one of the nicest ways to watch 4th of July fireworks that I can think of!

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.

Just be prepared for the most insane crowds you've ever been in at the park.

Yeah come for the fireworks, stay for the crowds ;)
The crowds are larger than any other day of the season, but the fireworks are well worth it. I've seen better shows (the Windsor/Detroit show is awesome and done to music), but the ambiance at CP somehow adds to the experience.

The last time we went, we pretty much blew off the coasters and spent a good portion of the late afternoon and evening in Soak City.

Its great, some of the best fireworks I have ever seen.

Is the best viewing location for the show on the beach, or is there a better place to watch from?

Six Flags: More fun than an anal probe!

The crowds are bad during the day, but they do die down about 8pm and the park is open till midnight. This would probably be a good night for a starlight pass.

The fireworks were on the beach last year, but if I remember correctly they were near where Wicked Twister is today. Do you think they will move the firworks, or close WT down?

The best thing about Six Flags "Worlds of Adventure" is that Cedar Point is nearby!

Someone asked that at the Coaster Mania Q&A. They said the fireworks would just be moved farther down the beach.

Pretty much any place on the beach, even down as far as Sandcastle Suites, gets you a view of the fireworks.

I always sit smack in the middle of Kiddy Kingdom....

They are always great. They do some pretty original stuff. CP was the first place I saw the Heart and Arrow shell.

We have our boat down there this year. We are debating viewing them from the water or in the park....

** Note to distant Non-Season pass holders **

If it is too windy or raining they WILL reschedule the show to the next day. If your sole purpose in going is to see the fireworks check the weather. I went one year when I was not a pass holder and they canceled it. It DOES happen. Unfortunately I blew all of the money on our tickets for that day and could not afford to come back the next day for the show. We were pretty upset. Ever since then I plan to go both the 4th and the 5th just in case......Buy a pass...Makes it easier to deal with stuff like that.

Get with it or die in the process.....

I disagree about the crowds dying down at night on the 4th. Yes, ride lines do die down, but I'm sure there are many more people there at closing on the 4th than on your typical day. We still had a 15 minute wait well into the night last year (where as on a regular night our line was GONE by 9 or 10) so don't expect to be having any night marathons going on. Crowds build later in the day because many people come JUST FOR the fireworks.

Matt, I can concure with you completely. The crowd level for the DAY of July 4th is actually light to moderate...The "problem" is NO ONE LEAVES EARLY, and after 5pm. and into the evening the "locals" and those DAMN;) Season Pass holders show up to ride a few rides and enjoy a GREAT fireworks display.

While I cannot be 100% certain, I think CP is one of the few if not the only show in Sandusky/Erie County on the 4th (Huron used to wait till the Water Festival).

The last time we went to CP for the fireworks it rained from 7-10 pm, with a nice thunderstorm around 9. The rain stopped just before 10 pm, and the fireworks went on as usual.

Obviously if it's raining when they are to begin, it's likely they can be cancelled.

In all my years going to Cedar Point, I've never seen the 4th of July fireworks display. I guess my preconceptions about crowd size have kept me from doing so. Maybe this will be the year...

Anyone have an idea of who produces the show? Zambelli Internationale out of New Castle is really large, and they typically do many of the displays for Pittsburgh's galas.
