"Film shoot" extras?

malem's avatar

Is anyone from here planning to respond to Cedar Point's last-minute Twitter call for "film shoot" extras? If you want eternal fame in 0.75 seconds of a Cedar Fair commercial, this could be your chance!

You can be a film shoot extra! We need extras THIS WEEK - apply online at: http://www.cedarpoint.com/filmshoot Thanks!

According to the page, you must be able to endure multiple ride cycles from 9am-6pm (Soak City tomorrow) or 7am-7pm (Cedar Point Thursday/Friday). I pity anyone who has to marathon Mantis or the mat slides.

EDIT: this forum really doesn't like HTML pastes from Twitter

I got the email I was chosen last night. It said that we will be riding Millie along with other
Coasters. I have a 3 hour drive to get there so I should get some sleep.
I just hope there will not be any marathon mean streak.

I actually marathoned Mean Streak Tuesday night with a buddy of mine. I have to say, as much pain that I was in the next day, it was a very fun time. You just seem to go numb after the 2nd time in a row hahah.

When we did our shoot we hit Millie first 6 times in a row. Afterwards we had lunch, then marathon on raptor for 6 runs. Finally we ended with Mean Streak 4 times in a row. I don't think i ever want to do that on Mean Streak again.

I was sitting in the 3rd from the last row. I honestly have not been on the coaster in at least 3 years due to my back. I wanted to do the shoot so i just toughed it out.

On another note I did meet some new people and made some new friends. I was paired up with a couple that was there for about half the day and forgot to get their info. Not sure if anyone knows them or not, but the girl from the couple is actually in photo 2 of the DT last ride photos in the front car with the black hair. Not sure if they are members on here. If anyone might know please message me.

6 rides on Raptor was a "marathon"? I don't know about anyone else around here, but when I think of marathon, I'm thinking of 50 or more rides. Of course, if you're 6-10 yrs old, then it would be a big deal. When I was a kid, I rode Double Loop at GL 12 times in a day and thought I was hot stuff. Boy, things have changed! :)

Back in the mid/late 90s',Cedar Point would open an hour early(9am) to the public(no separate early entry/public. The 4 majors(Raptor,Mantis,Mean Streak,Magnum) were up and running at 9. I would do 6 consecutive(pick your seat-no lines) on each of those and I didn't consider that 'marathoning', just taking advantage of no lines/no riders.

Before the designated early entry program, going back to the 60's, CP's opening was advertised as gates open at 9:00, rides begin at 10:00. Many times a number of rides would start before 10:00, it depended on if the crew had the ride ready before 10:00. No guarantees, but you could often get some quick rides in on a variety of rides before the crowds appeared.

I know im bringing this back from august, but has anyone heard or seen anything from these commercials? I just want to know if im in them or not. It would be cool to be in it if our group was chosen.

I haven't seen any Cedar Point commercials lately. Maybe give it another month before they start hyping for opening day.

I've done a Raptor Commercial (2002) and a Shoot the Rapids Commercial (2010). I saw myself in the Raptor one, but the STR one focused more on the lead actor (mountain man)

Thanks for rehashing a topic from last year. I prematurely jumped on and applied for a commercial shoot in 2012, lol. I was in the original Raptor commercial in 1994. Back when you had to actually audition during the off season. The audition consisted of you and the director in a tiny room with a large camera. You were asked to say your name and to pretend you were riding the coaster.
