Ferry Boat Removal and other changes

Well they just posted pictures up on Geauga Lakes Official website that shows them moving the floating bridge. They are moving the floating bride to the middle of the lake. Because of this, they are removing the Ferry Boats. They are also opening back up the trail that goes behind Raging Wolf Bobs and offering two 10 person trams.

You can check out the changes by clicking the following link. http://wwk.geaugalake.com/public/new.cfm

I will miss the Ferry Boats and I would like to hear what everyone thinks of this decision. *** Edited 4/3/2006 8:40:19 PM UTC by badmetalpurple***

I really don't think it is that big of a loss losing the ferry boats. It's good to hear there opening that pathway again and adding the trams.

Imagine your favorite tv show. You've been through it all. The ups, the downs, the crazy coincidences and then bang! They tell you what it's all about. Would you be happy? Does it make sense? How come it all ended in a church? - Joker

I too am sad to see the ferry boats go. Sure it wasn't the most exciting thing, but I thought it was something atleast somewhat original. I also don't like the idea of putting the floating dock in the middle of the lake. Is it just me, or is that going to look weird?

I like the hill behind Tidal Wave Bay. I hope they plant some grass there and maybe a few trees, or flowers or something. That could look pretty cool. ...And is it just me, or does that wave pool look... hmm... rather small?

Two 10 person trams? Not very good capacity there. Upcharge maybe?

^Well, it is a little bit out of the way, and it's not so long that you couldn't walk it...

As for what you asked about the wave pool DB, the one at GL is small. Smaller then Breakers Bay at Soak City. This surprised me since they were building a new one, why not build it big? At most water parks, the wave pool is a staple. The larger the better. Breakers Bay is packed on a busy day, and still pretty crowded on a slow day.

^My thought exactly. And for having cut so many additional improvements, you would think they would have done it up quite a bit. Perhaps they'll do what Dorney did and add another one should it be necessary.

I was thinking they might do that down the road. It seems to be the better way to go as far as having one big wave pool, or two nice sized pools. This is the only thing I could think of as to why they went with a substantially smaller wave pool then the one at Soak City. I know that they have an idea of how fast a wave pool, and the wave pool deck can fill up with guests, they had to have taken that into consideration. The pool at GL is only 390,000 gallons as where Breakers Bay at Soak City is 500,000 gallons. That might not sound like a big difference, but it is on a hot summer day.

The one thing they do have going for them is what looks like a very large deck for the pool. I can’t tell by looking at the pictures as to what land will actually be the deck, but it looks like it could be larger then Breakers Bay’s deck. Which is a very good thing. Regardless of its size though, Wildwater Kingdom is a great water park, they are really doing a good job. I know I can’t wait to go back for some relaxation.

I'm not sad to see the ferries go at all. They took too long to load and unload. I want to be able to get from one side of the park to the other as fast as possible to get more ridetime. The old path was long and out of the way and the boat just took too long. A path right across the middle of the lake will look weird, but it will be a helluva nice shortcut

Ahhh I'm really sad to see them go!! I love the ferry boats!!!

You see the ferry boats took way too long to load, it cost way too much to keep them, they were a maintanence NIGHTMARE, so I too am glad they're leaving

they filled those boats with 150 gallons of fuel almost every week. Plusin addition to problems they had in general, no one should be surprised to see them leave. I also hear they are up for sale (not like any other CF park could use/want them) although myabe if they dont sell they could do a PWE type ride (obviously it'd take some time to dig out land, etc... but you never know).

Some new pictures of Geauga Lake during the off season can be found HERE including some pictures of the ferry boats still in the water. It looks like they are going to stay there for at least this season.

Tidal Wave Bay looks more massive than its numbers suggest after actually taking a walk inside of it!

^But still not as big as Breakers Bay. Which is surprising since its a new wave pool at a 'new' water park.

I know the numbers show that Breakers Bay is bigger but Ive been in both Breakers Bay and now Tidal Wave Bay and TWB seems bigger!

To be honest, I may have worked @ CP last summer, but I did visit GL, and liked the water park BETTER than Soak City, by a ling shot.
