How can anyone know who is afraid of heights? One day ride warning will eventually exclude everyone form riding.
I'm afraid of heights but it doesn't bother me on rides.
Unless I go on Power Tower.
Power Tower is the only ride that makes me semi-nervous.. but that just adds to the fun.
I'm guessing this is pertaining to Skyhawk.
CP's 2006 Rider Safety Guide says that the manufacture prohibits any rider afraid of heights from riding Skyhawk.
I found this very strange and a little funny.
I have trouble being up high with nothing to hold on too. But with a lap bar and seatbelt holding me in, I feel completely safe. The fact of being at CP adds a sense of safety as well. That's one of the pluses of being an enthusiast, I'm know their safety record and how good it looks.

This policy has been around for a while, and it applies to all rides, but mostly those of great height. This rule is in the same "boat" as the rule that states that if you can't buckle your own seatbelt or secure your own harness, you can be deferred from being allowed to ride. Such rules haven't been a problem before, and I don't know why they'd start being one now. In CP's case its mostly put out there so to help keep rides moving. In the case of the manufacturer, it relieves them of liability should someone afraid of heights or what not have a heart attack or the such.

Skyhawk is the only ride that has that written though.

It may be the only one that says manufacturer, but I have seen a similar rule in other safety guides and publications in the past. But like I said before, I don't see why it will be a problem. Unless you go screaming through the turnstile that you're fraid of heights, they're not going to know. It's only there for libabilty reasons. S&S wanted that rule to be known, so Cedar Point had to abide.

But isn't more of a in-mind kinda thing? No one can for sure say "You're afraid of heights". It's more of a personal decision. Also, is being afraid of heights gonna kill or hurt you? Probably not. So now if someone where to get hurt, they could claim they were afraid of heights and sue Cedar Point? Sounds odd.
Oh, and you can't ride if you have a fear of Red, Blue, and White. *** Edited 4/30/2006 9:34:46 PM UTC by Keith 2005***

The park is just passing on the word, it's S&S who set the rule.

I've always been afraid of heights. But the only ride that bothers me is Magnum. Millennium and TTD don't because it doesn't take a long time to get up and down. My first ride on the teal side of PT was scary. I had my eyes shut the whole time up then I finally opened them. I was "hey this isn't so bad." In line I was counting to see how many seconds they just sit up there.

It's more of something being ridiculous, unneeded, and kind of funny than a problem.

I still cry like a little girl on the drop side of Pwoer Tower. The drop is not so much of a thrill for me...
Why is it that the drop side of PT was boring to me? I didn't get the drop sensation like you do on Demon Drop or the top of the red side of PT.
The best thing about the drop side is the view. *** Edited 5/1/2006 9:37:57 PM UTC by Gomez***

No stranger than a warning on a box of matches that reads, "warning, contents may catch fire." It's just a liability thing. That's the total extent of it.

I totally agree especially if you get a seat that views Dragsters launch.:)
The only time I'm ever uneasy is being on the drop side after a decent rain. It's something about the wind and wetness/slipperyness of the OTSR's that gets me every time........but I must say its an exciting feeling.:)

I am not afraid of heights and I am fine with most of the rides at Cedar Point. The only ride that still scares me is the Demon Drop

CoasterDevil is right. The cup at McDonalds saying "May be Hot" might be obvious, but sort of understandable. Being afraid of heights isn't a health issue or a safety hazord. It's a fear. Everyone has a fear, but we don't see warnings like this.

Very true. For me, part of riding that side is to get a look at Dragster's line, see if it's worth getting into it or not.
(obviously the height element doesn't really bother me)
