The FBI suggested that the Dearborn terror plot suspects might have been planning an attack at Cedar Point.

Six Flags statement:

“The safety and security of our guests and associates is a top priority. Cedar Point assisted the FBI on this investigation, as the individuals were recently observed on park property. Although there was no substantiated threat to the park, guests or associates, Cedar Point’s advanced security and surveillance capabilities provided important additional information to investigators. Together with additional third-party experts, the park took immediate and appropriate action to ensure the continued safety of all on property.”

^That's an interesting perspective, given the actual evidence that they have presented including a clear timeline of when these characters were on the property well outside of operating hours. Glad that we're not talking about something much worse happening.

I have absolutely zero trust in the kakistocracy in DC at the moment, but yes, it seems based on what has been presented it's clear these people were up to something.

That said, the alleged perpetrators seem terribly inept, considering they showed up 6 hours before the park opened on a Thursday. Something a 10 second Google search could have avoided.

Also, I'm trying to make sense of the subsequent timeline stated in the article. My understanding is that the park opened Thursdays at 6PM, and Fridays at 11AM. However, the article mentions that, after showing up 6 hours early on Thursday and being turned away, they returned the following day, a Friday, and purchased tickets at 11:45AM, and then:

At 11:48 a.m. Sept. 19, Ali’s vehicle was in an empty parking lot next to the amusement park, which was closed at the time, the complaint says. Nasser and the other person were on foot in the parking lot for about one minute, the document says.

A security worker spoke to them, and they indicated that they were waiting for the park to open, according to authorities. The worker told them they had to wait in their vehicle or leave until the park opened, the complaint says.

Didn't the park open at 11?

This one has pics of them at CP and more details...and making comments like "it's crowded at Halloweekends.

Thankfully nothing happened, thankfully!

Perhaps 11:00 for early entry, and they had 12:00pm entry tickets. Numerous "empty lot" areas around the property that they would have looked suspicious meandering about, whether it was near Housing, Marina, Sirens Curse, or Water-park.

So glad whatever was going on was thwarted. At least they were raked for the Daily Admission cost.

Walt's article later states--regarding the September 19th visit--that cell phone location data suggests that the pair left the area of the amusement park at 5:39 p.m.--still before the park opened. Which, of course, is wrong. So, yeah, the timeline raises some questions. I assume they wanted to enter the park. They even bought admission tickets. They certainly had the opportunity to do so since they didn't leave the area until late afternoon. We live in a sick world, that's for sure.

Also, jimmyburke: Early entry for September 19th would have been at 10:00 a.m., with general admission at 11:00 a.m. The park was open for the general public when they bought their tickets.
