Favorite memory

What's your favorite Cedar Point memory? The sights and smells? The park's history and nostalgia? The rides? Or is it something else? Go ahead and post your favorite memory or experience at the Point.

Mine would have to be the first time I rode the Mean Streak, which is my favorite coaster of them all. After getting off the steam railroad, I saw this humongous monster of a coaster. I had seen it before, but had never built up the nerve to ride it. But this particular visit, I did. The ride, up that extremely long hill. It stuck immense terror into me. But the anxiety was quickly overcome by sheer excitement as I careened down that first hill, into the banked turn, up and down, around and around all while thinking, "This is the most wonderful experience I have ever had." After weaving around the coasters 5,427 feet of track, I got off the ride with new strength and ableness to ride any ride in the entire park. My parents asked me, "How was it?" I said "I can ride anything now, come on, let's go ride again!"

Millenium Force!!!

I don't want to seem cheesy and with the crowd, but last summer was my first season as an employee there and driving down 250 and occasionally seeing this huge blue monster peak above everything else was unbelievable.  I almost crashed looking for it.  And then driving down the causeway and watching every detail of it, I was besides myself.  I couldn't have processed in any faster and thankfully for me it was the first "Ride Night" on the Force.  I rode it soooo many times that night, it was unbelievable.  Absolutely loved it!  :-)

Mantis Crew '02 - Where's the unload station at?!? ;-)

My favorite memory.  Last summer my first season as an employee, and the first night of work for me in  May last year was a memorable one,  Even though it was a bit trashy....  I drove up the Causeway at about 11:30pm.  I looked at the park, and it was all lit up, though it had been closed for 3 1/2 hours.  I walked in and clocked in.  It was a strange feeling.  Being at CP, not a single sound except for the wind blowing across the point, and the voices of the crew.  I felt out of place with them since I was the youngest person onthe crew at the time.  There was a feeling like the park was still rocking and rolling.  As if there was a heart beating someplace....  I never felt tired even a little bit that night.  However, what made the experience all the more memorable was watching the sun Rise over the point from a truck parked at Park Services (I was on break).  That was an amazing sight, and seeing the first rays of light for the day glisten of the rides and buildings.  I think I will probably make reservations at the Breakers so I can see the sun rise and strike the rides and buidings year after year.

Riding the Millennium Force for the very first time! Being scared out of my wit, but held my hands up high to look brave for the picture, not knowing where they took it, so I held trhem up through the whole ride. Blacking out. Screaming! Then just coming off with the hugest smile on my face ever:)
Sitting at Camper Village, next to a campfire, and listening to (and watching) Maggie climb the hill...a brief silence of the clackity clacks...and then the sceams of delight (or terror) as she went over the first hill.

Then the scream of the breaks out in the noodle.

Man,  I wish I was there now.

I don't know why, but my favorite memory is of 1999. It was late August, early evening, and it is the most recurring memory of mine. I was in line for Magnum, I was just feeling the greatest because I was surprised with a trip to CP that day, not knowing if I'd make it back again that year. I distinctly remember "Genie in a Bottle" and "Allstar" as well as "Cotton-Eye Joe" from the DJ booth. Whenever I hear those songs, it immediately brings me back. I remember looking over towards where I thought MF's hill would be the next summer. Also, I could sense this excitement in myself that I learned later that fall was the enthusiast in me.

One of biggest factors in my remembering it was the fact that I actually had to wait for Magnum. It's been a while since I've actually had to wait for it. Call me crazy, but I actually want to have to wait for Maggie again! I want that electricity back in that line!

My favorite memory was on a very crowded July day.  I took a non-season pass friend who only goes once or twice a year.  He had never been on Demon Drop, and even though I told him the 1 hour wait wasn't worth it, he wanted to ride anyway.  About 45 minutes into the wait, the car pushed out onto the ledge, but didn't fall.  A few seconds later, a rather burly ride op began to run up the stairs at full speed to come to the rescue.  He made it up the first two flights of stairs before he was on his knees panting as he crawled the rest of the way up.  It was very funny, (although probably not for him) and watching it cheered everyone in the line up.  Unfortunately we never did get to ride, but it was worth the 45 minute wait for the laugh.

And then there's all those girls in the bikini tops....

"Mean Streak would be better if they replaced the square wheels with round ones."

In late June of 2000, my first trip to the point. Myself and about 7 or 8 coworkers of mine from Dorney Park were waiting in line for the Force. It would have been my first time on the Force. We got in line about an hour and a half before closing. It had closed and reopened a few times for maintence problems while we were in line, than after it had been down for a pretty long time, they finally announced that it wouldn't be able to reopen that night. We didn't get to ride and we had been in line for at least 2 and a half hours, but I had a great time hanging out with friends so it was all worth it. And, luckily I finally did get to ride it the next day, so all was good.

If only I had a nickel for every minute I've daydreamed about Cedar Point. :)

My favorite memory consists of the whole bus trip to Dorney last season 9 and a half hours there with only 1 and a half hours sleep total.Spending between 8-9 hours in the park hitting at least half the coasters and an 8 and a hlalf hour bus ride back with 5 and a half hours sleep.Riding Raptor not remembering a thing about it except riding it then goping home and sleeping all day.AH DORNEY I miss it already and can't wait to go back.

Where are you going sarge? Decatur Gonna Shoot That Paper Hanging S.O.B."

My favorite memory was on the raptor and in the line also. Well my hole family went to CP like we do every year. There was about 15 of us somthing like that. Well my sis did not like the bigger rides yet, and i was trying to get her to go on the raptor. Well then line was only about 5 or less mins. (which is good because if it had been any longer she would have craped her pants looking at it all that time) So we got up to the loading station and she started crying. note: she is 12. So I am realling trying to get her to calm down and all these great people that work at CP are saying what a great ride it is and everthing. So we get on the ride and I have to straped in because she is still crying. Well we start going and then then you he this be yell! "STOP the ride I want to get off." well by this time its to late. and all the way up the hill he is crying and crying. Well on the way down she is STILL crying but half way threw the loop and starts laughing. I mean she just loved the ride! We went on it about 10 in about 50 min. It was great!

My favorite memory was the only night that racepark closed early this summer, we were having a terrible time with a guest injury, an irate parent of an under- height child and a few inibriated guests.  We all wanted to just run to the shed and hide. At about 10 we got a call from Park Op that there was a serious storm coming in and to hurry the line though before we had to go down for weather.  And just as the line started to die down the storm hit. unrelenting-unrelenting heavy rain.  we all found a chair in the shed and sat around relaxing until the call came for us to go home, while our ATL and third in charge sat in the grand prix station and told guests that we were down.

My favorite Cedar Point memory has got to be my first ride on MF. I was so excited when I saw it for the first time in 2000 as I drove over the causeway. My girlfriend and I decided that since the line was going to be long in the morning and afternoon that we would ride it later in the evening. Well, evening turned into night and we still hadn't ridden it yet. We got in line right before they stopped letting people in for the night and my girlfriend and I took our first ride ever on MF at night on the final train of people for the night. It was a blast and I will always remember trying to see ahead of us to where we were going and not being able to see anything but black darkness. Ah Cedar Point, you have given me so many memories for so many years. I hope to make some more on Wicked Twister this year.
It's hard to pick my favorite out of three.  The first was a trip in 1969 with a boyfriend.  He talked me into riding the Blue Streak which I had avoided prior to that trip, and I overcame my fear of coasters.  We rode the Jumbo Jet and Wild Cat as well.  When it began pouring down rain, we ran into the arcade and had our pictures taken in the photo booth.  I still have the pictures.
The next would be the first trip I took with my husband the year before Gemini was built.  We stayed overnight at the Breakers, walked barefoot along the beach and he drew a heart in the sand with "I love you" inside.  (Got a picture of that too).
And last would be the first time we took our son to CP.  He was 7 years old, and tall enough to ride all of the coasters.  We started him out on Iron Dragon, and everytime he got off a coaster, he said "I want to go on a bigger one" until we rode Magnum.
I guess when you've got 40 years of CP memories, it's hard to settle on just one.

Well, I guess I have a favorite memory for each year I've gone to CP. In 2000, my girlfriend (now my wife) took me on my first coaster: Raptor. That ignited a monster inside of me that bought a season pass for 2001 (and 2k2) and we went to the park 38x in 2001 where, on August 12, the night after our wedding, we got 1-1 on Millennium Force for the first time out of 30 tries on that big blue thing over there on that side of the park....WOW!

Riding Magnum for the first time when I was ten. I believe we waited two hours for that beast. The queue was bustling with action, which added to the entire experience. Climbing that hill seemed to take forever...it scared me out of my mind. It was *so* fun, and I've loved Maggie ever since.

Ok, so I have 403 laps on ST, but I would give it all to have CP as my home park.
