Fastlane Pass

If Cedar Point was to offer an all season Fast Lane, what would the price point be? At Dorney Park, they are selling at $99 for half of this season. For those who are not familiar, lines at Dorney tend to be very short, particularly on weekdays. On a weekday, lines for the coasters are rarely more than ten minutes, and waterside lines are rarely more than 15 minutes. What I am getting at is, at Dorney, Fast Lane only provides much value on the weekend.

Considering at Cedar Point, Fast Lane can be as much as $150 on some days, and this spring, Six Flags Great Adventure was selling their all season Flash Pass for $500, what would Cedar Point's price point be?

Obviously that's a question only management can answer. Wild speculation will just lead to more complaining about how expensive it is already.

Would anyone on here hand over $500 for all season fast lane plus?

I wouldn't but I don't think I fit in the demographic something like that would be marketed too.

It depends on weather or not it is good for the entire chain. If it's just CP, not a chance. If it's all Cedar Fair parks, I may consider it.

I'd shell out $500 for all season FastLane, IF it meant they were able to track when I am in the park and make 1 less FastLane available for walk up customers.

In other words, say there are 1,000 FL available per day (just throwing that number out there) now. If on days like July 4th or Columbus Saturday they sell out 1,000 FL for the day, plus another 1,000 Season FL guests come in, that could kinda make Fast Lane a moot point. The Fast Lane lines can get pretty long on those days as it is.

If my Season Fast Lane pass gets scanned at the gate, they should make 1 less available at the kiosks or ticket booths.

Keep in mind I'm not the guy who goes twice a week every week through the season. I'm 5-6hrs away, and try to get to CP a few times a year. If lines are real long I don't ride much because I don't want to spend 90 minutes in line that I could spend with my son. Of course when he's old enough (he's already tall enough, just not "ready") to ride the big stuff, all bets are off.

I'd go for a $500 all season FL at CP for sure. That's about the price point I'd think they'd end up around, but I also think they'd have to really limit the number they sell.

My platinum pass and season dining ran me around 300 bucks. (Is that right? I renewed it at Halloweekends. Now that I say that, it seems high) Anyway, I'm that type of visitor who knows how to work CP so I never have a fretful time. And if I ever find myself in the spot where FL+ would be a benefit I go right ahead, figuring I've already had enough visits having spent nothing but money for gas so it's well worth it.
Plus, I'm spoiled. I'm usually by myself and can't imagine ever spending more than 15-20 in line for anything at CP. If I turn the corner and see Maverick has an hour wait it's a firm pass. After all, I rode it 5 times on that slow Wednesday in May before I moved around to the next walk-on. And there will always be that Friday in September I can look forward to.

And I find myself participating in yet another discussion around fotl access. It's not going away, and neither will the whiners.

I once rode Millennium 15 times in a row during unscheduled ERT. No way would I wait over an hour for it now. I'll just come back later.

Not sure why you think everything is a debate. All we are saying is that FL slows down the main line for the majority of people. That's all. It's an observation.

A) What's the fun of an Internet coaster forum if we can't have debates?

B) You say Fast Lane holds up the line for the majority of people. I say people paying for Fast Lane are paying for the privilege of holding up the line -- and would argue that, since the same number of people are riding the ride, it's not actually holding up the line.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

I'm not sure you understand how it works. There is a main line, and then people cut in toward the front of that and fill in trains. Those trains are full of people who got in line well after you did, thus meaning you wait longer. What could be a 1 hour wait for you is turned into a 1 hour 20 minute wait because countless people are going ahead of you.

Plus, FL riders can ride multiple times while you wait, which unavoidably makes the standby wait longer.

Brandon

Exactly. I'm in line for Windseeker right now, and there is a group of people who have ridden twice already while I am still waiting in line. I hate FL. The majority is waiting longer so a select few can wait less.

You mean Windseeker has a line?

Seriously, life has some lessons for you that you're not going to like either.

This idea is entirely predicated on the assumption that those people wouldn't be riding in the first place. I think that's a big stretch. I might be willing to concede a minor delay in the time it takes to ride from standby, if only for the repeaters, but I doubt it's significant.

Why? Because this has been debated about Disney's Fastpass for years, and it always comes down to the fact that if all the FP users were physically in the line, the wait time would not change. What's different here is the apparent butthurt over the fact that Fastlane isn't free.

Fast Lane and souvenir cups have been debated to death on here. We are beating dead horses at this point.

If I am waiting in line and someone gets in the fastlane line after I have already been waiting and they ride before me I am now waiting behind them instead of in front of them. They went before me so I have waited longer because I am behind them even though I came to the ride first. They would have ridden anyway without fastlane but they would have ridden after me. Many days the difference may not be statistically significant but if there are a lot of fastlane users on a busy day and the employee controlling the merge point isn't doing a very good job balancing the lines for some people it's going to be noticeable.
