I would say it's only a good idea to pre-purchase FL on days you KNOW it's going to be busy. And those are pretty tough to predict in some cases.
I would say if you're visiting in July or August, and it's your only trip of the year, it might be a good idea to pre-purchase. If you're going to a HW Saturday, it will depend almost completely on weather. If you're a day or two out from your Saturday HW trip, and the weather forecast calls for 70F and clear skies, pre-purchasing would be wise.

Fastlane is no Fastpass. Just sayin'.

I agree with what has been laid out above.
Let me add - I have been there on days where SOME Fast Pass locations have been sold out while others still had wristbands for sale. If you end up in the situation where the Fast Pass locations at the front of the park are sold out - you MAY find Fast Pass available farther back in the park. Locations that sell Fast Passes have a sign in front of their door indicating if they are available or sold out.

I don't understand the question. Fastpass is free, at Walt Disney World.

About 10 - 15 minutes...or less.
Like Cedar Point, it depends on when you're there and how long the standby line is.
On Christmas? 2 weeks. Today? 10 minutes.
It's hard to complain when it works and it's...you now...free and stuff.
Or were you just being rhetorical with the little winky there...

Some of us remember Cedar Point's failed attempt at a somewhat (with a lower-case "s" on somewhat) similar system called "FreeWay"; at least I think that was the name.
For those of you who don't recall, they would issue hand-stamps for certain rides early in the morning for different times of the day until they ran out at no charge.
It just seemed poorly organized, as it didn't last long.

Sorry for the confusion. I just assumed this was a Cedar Point forum. I was talking about Cedar Point Fast Passes.
You were correct in assuming this was a cedar point forum, however I started visiting the point in the real early 90s, go every year sometimes multiple times, and in the past 20-23 years they have never offered a fast pass and they still don't. So to answer your question, no they don't sell out because they don't sell them.
Edit: also they don't have a twisted wicker, top speed dragster, the magnum isn't sinking and wasn't named after a condom, the corkscrew didn't derail last year, raptor isn't being torn down, and so on and so forth.
