Hey all,
My fiance and I are planning our first time trip to cedar point may 11-14(monday-thursday) so we'll have two full days there. My fiance does not want to wait in the lines so he is pulling to get the fast lane plus tickets. From all that I've read I'm sceptical that we will actually need them, I just dont want to spend almost $400 when we might not need to. So are the fast passes really worth it?

I would only use the Fast Pass on the weekends. You won't need them from during the first full week they are open!!

Yes. Especially if you want to avoid waiting in any line of any kind.
However, (and I haven't looked at the operating calendar for park hours), the park shouldn't be busy enough those days to actually warrant it. But if your guy really, really hates lines and you want to power ride a few of the most popular coasters it may be worth it.
My question for you, though, is since he's the one that's pushing for it why are you spending the money? I say make him spring for it and you'll both be happy.

Thanks really appreciate the quick reply!
We're both pulling together money for the trip, our problem is I'm more frugal than he is. I would just hate it if we got there and it was not crowded and we had spent all that money. I think we could settle on just one day with the fast lane plus.
Thanks for the advice!

At least try and wait until you get there to decide to buy them. 2 full days in early May aren't going to have many lines at all. And they certainly aren't going to sell out.
To me, the Fast Lane is well worth it for a park you do not visit often. We will most likely be at Cedar Point close to 20 times this year so I will not be buying a Fast Lane for Cedar Point. However, we are going to Kings Island for a day - I'll be buying Fast Lane+, and if we can make it happen we'll also be visiting Carowinds which I will but Fast Lane + for as well.
That being said, I doubt you will have more than 10-15 minute waits for most rides during the time frame you listed. The first few weeks of May tend to have minimal crowds during the week. If you/he feels that crowds are too large and would rather enjoy more time spent outside of waiting in lines, you can always buy the Fast Lane's on the day you are there instead of ahead of time. They will not be selling out of the passes on the days you are visiting.
Perhaps do the first day without it, and then decide if you think it would be worth it for the second day.
Some of the most empty days that I've been to at the park have been in May during the week.

I think we will try the first day without it and see where the day goes. I did notice too that is was math and physics week at the park I'm hoping that doesn't draw to many crowds. I guess if it does hopefully they'll be cleared out by mid afternoon.
Being math and science week, there will most likely be a lot of school groups there during the day, but they usually leave an hour or two before the park closes.
I go there about 4 times a year. Going without the Fast Passes is very limiting. You have to choose where you want to spend your time waiting in line. With the Fast Passes you can go on your favorite rides multiple times. We had so much more time to relax at the Hotel Breakers since we weren't waiting in line half the day. It's awesome, and well worth the extra cost. We rode Maverick 3 times, which is my favorite.
Read other threads on this site for more details and discussion. Bottom line, whatever the normal wait is, the fast lane wait will be shorter. Those minutes add up, a lot. Your 1/year visit situation (like JUnderhill mentioned) to me is an absolute no-brainer to get it at least one of the days. Just don't buy it til you get to the park, in case it rains.
