Fast Lane is coming to the park

Well let's say that it is a 1 hour wait. 10 minutes of that wait would be standing on the station platform. If FastLane takes you directly to the station platform, the FastLane user would still be waiting that 10 minutes it takes on the station platform, leaving him with 6 rides (because there are 60 minutes in an hour) before the non FastLane user would get his 1 ride.

That's just my guess. The FastLane user might even be able to get more rides in depending on out long the wait is on the station platform.

What do you guys think?

I will gladly report back :)

I am heading to Cedar Point the first week it is open, bought the Fast Lane Pass for Friday the 18th. We are coming from Minneapolis so I figured after driving all that way and spending the money we may as well get as many rides in as possible.

I am certainly looking forward to seeing how the system is implemented and hopefully we are able to ride the big coasters a couple times and move on. I know that my group will not be marathoning, but in fact trying to take in the whole park.

You buy the pass and I'll be the marathoner while you wait in line. I just wanna help. :)

I was thinking of exchanging the Fast Pass wrist band (make it loose enough to roll off). That way we can both marathon certain rides, and get a fair share.

Thanks for the unbiased evaluation!

...from everything that I have read about how it has been implemented at the other parks leads me to be concerned that it will have a noticeable negative impact on the guests who don't have it.

Keep in mind that people like to complain, especially on the internet. People are less motivated to race home to their PC's and report about their completely uneventful experience.

And I think this is what most people with a Fast Lane pass will do; and I think this is the spirit of the whole system.

Cedar Point's days of being a one-day park are long gone. On a busy weekend, you can get in maybe 3 of the "big rides", and miss everything else altogether. If you only plan on being there one day and don't have the luxury of visiting multiple times, FL is the only way you can enjoy the whole park.

Promoter of fog.

I happen to disagree with that assessment...

I'm remembering some years ago when a reporter and I were both in the park on the same day. He spent his first four hours in the park waiting in line for three rides, then whined to his readers about how Cedar Point had no queue-management system.

The same day, I rode every coaster in the park except Jr. Gemini and Mantis:TCFKAB. My longest wait was about 40 minutes for Millennium Force. And I admit, one of the rides the reporter waited a long time for was Mantis:TCFKAB, which I don't bother with 'cause I can't ride that one anymore.

The thing is, if Fast Lane were designed to spread the crowd among the rides, equalizing the demand, it could shorten everybody's waits. But that's not what it's designed to do...

What it does, is get the people who are willing to spend extra money, to spend extra money in potentially a couple ways. First, they bought FL. 2nd, since they'll be spending less time in line, they'll have more opportunity to buy food, play games, shop, etc.

If you have a season pass how does this work?

Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

The same as if you didn't have a season pass.

We are coming from the Minneapolis area, we are heading to the park to ride rides and as many rides as we can. I don't foresee us spending more cash playing any games what so ever.

We bought the Fast Lane passes in order to ride the best rides and not have to wait in line wasting our time. We are only trying to maximize our time because we won't be coming back any time soon.

Plus I really don't want to stand in line listening to all the high school kids and their drama.

I hate listening to old people bitching about the high school kids and their drama. ;)

I hate both. Hell, I hate listening to middle aged people talk about their drama.

It's not just high schoolers. Last year, I watched a group of women (perhaps in their mid-50's) auguring with each other on who's outfit was "cuter" in the line for Maverick.

Nickster, now that would have sucked.

Is there even a winner in that scenario?

I wish there were Fast Lane rental.

1) Rent Fast Lane.
2) Ride MF, TTD, and Maverick. (and maybe Giant Wheel).
3) Turn in Fast Lane 1 hour later.
4) Ride other rides.

I also find it funny that Mantis is not part of Fast Lane. Equal punishment for all. :)

^I am thinking the list that has been posted might grow to a larger list or there might be a list of alternatives incase a ride is down for an extended period of time.

I could see it growing. Kings Island only had like 6 attractions when it first debuted. They raised it to 24 for this season, more than any other park.

But I meant that I could see it getting bigger this season, maybe even before July. I think once they see how the system is working is when they will decide to add more.

You buy 1 fast pass between 3+ strangers. Make the thing loose enough to switch off to the other person.

So pretty much you're renting
