Fast Coaster Sunday

For anyone who was at the park yesterday (10/12), did you notice that some coasters seemed faster?

I noticed it mostly on Raptor and Wicked Twister, and just a little bit on Magnum and Dragster.

At first I thought it was all in my head but when exiting Raptor I overheard some other people saying that it seemed noticably faster.

I'm just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

Mantis seemed faster, but I know it was because the trim was off. Raptor had it's normal intensity, but I'm not sure if it was going too much faster. I did get more air than normal on Magnum's bunny hills though.

Depends on when you rode Mantis. It had its trims off and on all weekend. Very odd.

Magnum was also trimless in the morning. Always makes for a great ride, especially from the ejector seat.

Friday, September 18th, 2003 at 10:10 PM. It finally happened. Rollback on Dragster in the front seat of the gold train!

I rode Mean Streak on Sunday and it was fast and seemed out of control. I loved the ride!!!!!!!!

I have only ridden the Magnum at total of 8 times, so I cannot really tell the differences yet. But, it seemed like it was really running fast on Saturday early in the day. I had a lot of air time, which I am still not totally comfortable with yet. It still amazes me the way the whole train itself gets airtime. We got two rides in between about 12:30 & 1:00. The crew seemed like they were really doing a good job, because the wait time was pretty short that early. Where are the trim brakes located, and what is their function? I am such a coaster newbie that I really can't tell. The Wildcat also seemed to be running fast, but more smoothly than I have ever experienced. It was great fun.

The trim brakes are there right as you go into the pretzel turnaround. They are there to slow the train down. Mantis has them on the first drop, so does MS.

Tank: The more you ride Magnum the more you'll learn that the ride it delivers changes daily, maybe even hourly.

What time does the water show start?

WT goes the same speed, every single time. Too fast or too slow it E-stops.

It's not a beer belly, it's the gas tank for a sex machine!

Magnum does change hourly. When I rode it Sunday morning around 11am, it was crawling. By evening, it was its normal self again.

Millennium Force is the same way...both times I rode it, it was running a little slow.

I noticed that Magnum was doing something weird on the second drop where it felt like the right rear wheel was bouncing or something. Initially I thought it was a bad wheel or something, but it did it in two different trains... (red and blue)

Bummer, Dave. I didn't get on the ride Friday, but MF was most certainly moving over the 182' hill much faster than I've seen in quite some time.

For WT maybe it was just where I sat that time. It just seemed to be a little faster during swings 2 and 4 as I really got lifted out of my seat, more so than previous times this season.

I know it's not much, but I do like to ride the smaller rides as well and I remember on friday evening getting off of Iron Dragon with my g/f and telling her that it seemed much faster than usual. It was the first time I can actually remember that I had that tickling feeling in my stomach going down a hill. Maybe because I wasn't expecting it, but not even MF does that to me. It was still great. I also felt that magnum was riding really great friday night.

Brian, When i rode it sunday morning, and frightend you seemingly by asking if you belonged to this site, I couldn't tell if they were on or off. I believe they were off but i didn't really care cause the ride hurt me... Stupid B&M standup.

Hey what's up? I was just so shocked that you recognized me from this site. Just threw me for a loop.

Sorry your ride wasn't that great but I hope you had fun that day anyways. Later!
