Farewell Witches Wheel

Before it was practically on the beach so it didn't need a cement pond. The queue looked like a pier as you walked up. It was a nice, shady spot to wait for a ride and I do remember waiting so I don't think there was any lack of ridership in the old location. Where it is currently I think it has just never had the same charm.

It would be interesting to see the numbers, but I would guess it gets more riders in its new spot. Being tucked away in the corner, as it used to be, wasn't ideal. A ride that is visible from... well, Bay View, is a better fit for the area.

Ah farewell to the Witches Wheel. I pity all future generations of teenage boys. When you went to the park on a date or met a random at the park and they wanted to ride Witches Wheel you knew they liked you.

Which begs the question - do teenagers/young adults even meet in the park anymore? Meet meaning strike up a conversation with someone the same age they have never met and then proceed to spend time together at the park. Or with smartphones is that not really a thing anymore.

Some things never change. Best ride to meet, Gemini, when running racing trains and getting fives.

I have ridden Gemini hundreds of times while racing and high fived countless strangers. I have never struck up a conversation at the bottom of the exit stairs.
