Hey guys, first post, new account, long time lurker (thanks for all the info!)
I'll be travelling up in two weeks from AL with a bunch of people who have never been to CP before (I've been 13 out of the last 15 years). A few them discussed bringing fanny packs. I know that MF, TTD, Magnum, and a few other rides won't let you bring bags, backpacks, etc. onto the ride platform, and that you have to rent a locker. Does anyone know the ruling on fanny packs? Can they be worn on the ride, or do they have to be stored a locker? I couldn't get a straight answer off the CP FAQ. Thanks in advance!
tl;dr : are fanny packs legit to ride on TTD, Valravn, MF, etc?
If they're worn under the shirt they won't ever have to know. I sometimes wear a mini sports band to carry keys and money but that's much smaller than a Fannie pack.
First ride; Magnum 1994
Fanny packs are allowed on almost all rides. Just as long as the restraint is up against your body and not your fanny pack. So before you pull down your restraint or buckle your seatbelt, just move it off to the side and it won't be a problem.
I use a waterproof case (sold in Soak City shops but may also be sold in the back near the water rides ). It's big enough for a phone, some cash, credit card, id, and a car key. The bare necessities. You can wear it around your neck and tuck it under your shirt. The added bonus is if you ride Thunder Canyon or Snake River, you're all set.
I don't recommend the use of a fanny pack, but that's strictly because they're an extreme fashion NO.
Fanny packs and amusements parks are peas and carrots. My last visit... Some chick had a shark (mostly face) Fanny pack whilst in line for MF. It was actually awesome. IIRC one of the decrotive chrome hoops was the shark eye.
I've been a fanny pack wearing, season pass holder for 12 years and have never been asked to remove it on anything -- and I ride everything.
These little belt bags are the only external conveyance that Cedar Point allows on EVERY ride. Including Magnum, Millennium Force, Dragster, GateKeeper, Rougarou and Valravn. Believe me, I've used mine on every dry ride in the park.
It's also worth noting that there are certain rides in other Cedar Fair parks (I'm looking at you, Fury 325 and Banshee) which prohibit these things. I wish those parks would get with the program.

My wife used a fanny pack for years.
Then a number of parks, most notably 6 Flags stopped letting you take them on rides.
She solved the problem by getting what can best be described as a "utility vest" with Velcro or zippered pockets.
This year she "upgraded" to one that Hammacher Schlemer sells.
Its lighter weight with plenty of pockets.

Most people go to Cedar Point to have fun not make a fashion statement.
Oh, I'm in no way suggesting we should make fashion statements at parks. I am, however, insisting we avoid the fashion faux pas.
It's hilarious to hear anyone in the coaster dork - i.e. cargo shorts and t-shirt - community even mention "fashion faux pas".

Excuse me! I have to take time away from a Star Trek website, listening to an obscure Broadway show cast album, as I wear my Dollywood T-shirt and cargo shorts, while my Wonder Woman bobble-head bobbles beside my computer to proclaim I'm not a dork? :-)
I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.
Raising my hand to show I am a proud fanny packer!! So much easier to carry what you need securely and long ago I gave up caring about what others thought about how it looks. As long as it doesn't interfere with the safety restraints, it shouldn't be an issue.
Utility over style!,,,and no locker rental.
Fanny Packers Unite! and just shake your head at folks renting yet another locker LoL
And so very PROUD of it! LoL
I wear that title proudly, thank you :D
Just remember though,
As a mom: I have Tylenol for a headache, Pepto tablets for upset tummy, usually a few band-aids, girly product in case Aunt Flo makes an unexpected visit.
As an EMT I have 81mg Chew-able aspirin in case someone has chest pain, a portable one way breath valve for CPR -dont laugh...(those have been used before.)
