Fanatic Program

I was just at Kennywood today (had alot of fun) and when I rode Phantom's Revenge they had a program called Frequent Phanatic. If you aren't familiar with the program you get a card with a bar code on it and everytime you ride you can scan it to keep track of your rides. When they keep track of your rides you can work to get prizes with the amount of rides you get(except it only counts 4 rides per day). I thought this was a pretty sweet idea and that maybe Cedar Point could implement on their next roller coaster.

4 rides a day??? That kinda sucks..

*thinking of just how many points he'd have if he counted all his MF and Mantis rides together... *shudder*

Hey, that's a cool idea! Too bad about just the 4 rides per day, so much for "100" shots! :) But that's a really great public relations idea, and a great way to keep track of your records. Is there a way you can find out, like a scanner or something?

They have a website dedicated to the program. It's on the pass www.phantomphanatic.com . You can see your number of ride points and the top ten people with the most rides. Very sweet!

Wow that really is a great idea! Especially the Top Ten thing on the website!

Steuks!!
I loved the idea! Think it would be great for CP, but Kennywoods big downfall is that they don't offer season passes, so for you to attain any serious level,, you would have to spend a hell of a lot of money.
They (kw) give you a card to swipe at the entrance to the Phantom,,this tally's your rides and you recieve printable cupons via email for prizes like hats and shirts depending on your level. I would just buy the shirt rather than spend the twenty some bucks admission per visit to get four rides in. It is kinda bogus but a really great idea if you could afford to go often enough.!

Dan wouldn't need his tally counter. :)

They should put one of them on Gemini for you guys! ;) *** This post was edited by 300FTMONSTER on 5/31/2001. ***
Or at least his Magnum tally counter...

I think it's a great idea.. Shouldn't be too expensive to do as card readers are pretty cheap these days. Software and wiring into a mainframe would be the most expensive part. Just let us use our season passes as the card and you're set to go.

Pity the Phantom can't count. He thinks I only rode twice when in fact I know I scanned my card three times...!

That means they're not porting the data in real time. How uncool is that?

Jeff, I scanned my card three times, but it only registered two, too! One registered the day after I rode it, the other two days after. Still waiting for my third ride! I has been a week!

It really is a cool idea. Wouldn't be surprised to see more parks implement this
