It isn't the typical price gouging that we have come to expect at an amusement park, by any means. I know that dinner for 2, which was quite the feast, with a total of 4 tall draft Yuenglings came out to $63 last year. Not too awful bad, considering. I figure the same meal away from CP would probably be in the $50-55 range, so all in all not bad. And the food is quite good, too.
The pricing is not that far off from a regular location
with amounts ranging from $3-$4 more per entrée. It is a clean location, with air conditioning with a private restroom that gives you a chance to wash your face and hands to freshen up for an actual sit down meal. The location is very nice and on the water with very interesting views of the park. We enjoy it as a very nice way to take a break and IMO costs about the same as eating a dry cafeteria style hamburger and fries on a filthy bench outside in the park. THE BIGGEST PLUS and the best part is that Famous Daves has a full bar that serves real drinks and liquor. My partner and I usually go in the afternoon to take a break every time we go. If they are busy we have a mixed drink or two at the bar while we wait for a table, get a decent sized meal and a mixed drink or two with dinner. Still cheaper than eating in the park and the soda has refills so we only purchase one and share and the service is very fast and friendly. Highly recommended if you ask me.
Go to Famous Daves, get the Feast for Two, The End!
The prices at Famous Daves are great if you ask me. We used to go to the one in North Olmstead during the off season, but found that the food doesn't seem as fresh at CP's. I would rather pay a few more dollars for a more fresh taste. The only gripe I have with them, is they now have very different corn, and corn is always a great part of the meal.(which is weird, because our last waitress told us that the corn is now fresh corn shucked on site)
I have been at the North Olmstead Dave's way more than I care to admit, and the food quality IMO is about equal to CP's. I have been going to both for at least 5 years now.
It really depends on the specific day though and who is preparing the food. At both, I have had hit/miss stuff... Like any place, though.
Overall though, both are very consistent. The only difference like I have mentioned is smaller side portions at CP and higher prices/limited menu. But still, the best deal at the park.

^^That would explain the difference..maybe. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice.
I usually go for a Manhattan while at Daves. I wish Liquor selections were avail inside the park. Beers are nice here and there, but man I'd love to have a Gimlet or something tasty in line for something.

MY dining experience at FD at CP was just okay. I'm a frequent diner at the North Olmsted location. I'm aware of the limited menu options at the CP location, but man, how could they remove the smoked salmon dip appetizer that North Olmsted offers???!!!!! Sometimes i go there just for that!! But my friend and I got the feast for two, he didn't particularly care for the quality of the food. i thought it was decent, not as tasty as North Olmsted, but still good. My friend thought the BBQ chicken had a funny taste to it, I thought it was ok. *shrug*. I Do, however, really want to try Bay Harbor. How is the food in there?
See, I absolutely love the brisket. I always ask our waitress to substitute more brisket for less chicken. I just don't understand how the feast for two is not the best bang for your buck. So much delicious food!
Compared to the rest of the selections at CP, Famous Dave's is the best food option with the best pricing for the amount of food IMO.

That's not a very high bar. :)
Our meal not only didn't meet expectations, but it was downright bad. Though, as someone who is used to BBQ like that of Slow's and Redsmoke, perhaps my bar is higher when it comes to BBQ.
I think you hit it on the head, Josh - FD's seems like chain-style BBQ for folks who haven't had really good BBQ.

I disagree... As an avid BBQ'er myself (I do the whole 20hr briskets over hickory, pulled pork and ribs) I know exactly what BBQ is and how it should taste. I have also eaten at top BBQ places in Texas and Memphis as well as many others throughout the country. BBQ places are generally the first thing we look up when going to a new area. As of now, my favorite is probably Four Rivers Smokehouse in the Orlando area, if you ever are in the area...
While Dave's is not the absolute best, it is damn good for a chain. I think you simply went on a bad day or something. I find the ribs excellent, the brisket and pulled pork very good and the rib tips are delicious. The jalapeno mac-n-cheese is like crack, and many of the other sides are very good. I don't see how anyone can argue otherwise unless the cook just didn't care that day and screwed it up.
Speaking of Dave's... Going today for my birthday... I am expecting deliciousness :)
