Exits

I've always had a problem with the exit ramps on some of the CP rides. I really dislike the ones where the exit ramp is in the center of the station's side. Some examples are the Gemini blue train and Magnum. The exits are so narrow that it takes a long time to get off. This drives me crazy because I'm anxious to see my picture.

I really like MF's exit ramp because it's at the front of the station. This makes people form what somewhat resembles a line. The exit moves much faster this way in my opinion.

I also hate the flat rides that have only the one little exit. It's annoying having to walk up and down the "hills" on rides like Matterhorn and Super Himilaya.

Your logic is flawed. Regardless of where the ramp is, some portion of the riders will need to walk further than others to get to it, and they'll all have to funnel into that ramp. The only thing that makes MF different is the stairs at the other end so half the train can go one way and the other half the other.

rath as Jeff says there will always be some funneling when there is only one way to go through the exit. But I do agree with you that Magnum's exit does get backed up. However, its not nearly as bad as the exits at the two Six Flags parks Ive been to (Great America and St. Louis)

Just my preferance, but I like to see the exits on the steel coasters near the front of the coaster and near the back for the wooden, cuz that's where I sit. :) I know that sounds selfish, but so what. Ha!

On a more serious note... who really cares...

While I love the 2 exits at Millennium, I always thought it funny that the ride with the fastest clearing of the platform, is the one that really has the most time to work with.

The Six Flags exits are insane. Nothing drives me crazier than standing in line to go through a turnstyle at the platform exit. (Except maybe the notorious exit giftshop. My Doctor says I should avoid these rides due to my cleptomania.) ;)

i agree with Rihard. I was at SFGAmerica and rode Raging Bull (about 20 times) and the exit path kept weaving in and out and in and out. It felt like i was in a never ending, painful path that kept teasing me that i was close to the midway. In all honesty, even though the exit line was longer than the Mississippi river, it was worth it each and every time. BTW, I saw coaster supports off in a clearing that looked to be pretty big!!
His logic is not flawed. Consulting my 'efficient egress' design handbook, it says, "multiple lines of occuments converging at a solitary exit point will create congestion as everyone arranges into an exiting order" i.e. Gemini blue train side or Magnum Station.
It goes on to say, "a traffic organizer previous to the solitary exit point will reduce the congestion by creating the exiting order before the exit point and not at the exit point." i.e. Millennium Force.

Rathofdoom was saying that same thing, but with real-life examples.

Millennium Force also has the advantage of two exit points, but their arrangment benefits exit egress wheras Magnum's arrangement harms exit egress.

I hate ever having to leave a ride. Why do you have to exit?

Rather that having the problems with the egress exits, everyone should be equiped with a personal parachute and have ejection seats on the coasters. i think this would speed up the line and get me to the coaster faster.

I don't really like the exit from Magnum either. My favorite exit is Superman the Escape at SFMM. It's short, quick,(probably because only 15 pep. fit in each car, though) and it gives you an interesting view from the middle of the station, between the two tracks.
