Ever wanted to BUY Millennium Force?!

I think everyone will be suitably amused by this...

Go to http://www.millenniumforce.com ... Actually, I think this could potentially pose a problem for Cedar Point... We'll see :)

Wait one minute! If they have the name "Millennium Force" copyrighted...

I guess its just because they are two totally distinct objects.
Evan,

That definitely doesn't preclude lawsuits... A registered trademark is a registered trademark. If they GET that registered trademark, CP could have a problem if this company wants to be jerks.

I remember when Jello had a product called Jello 1-2-3 and was sued by Lotus because they had trademarked 1-2-3... Not like anyone was going to go to the supermarket for spreadsheet software and say, "Oh look! Jello 1-2-3!" :-)

Names aren't copyrighted, only trademarked.

In this case, there wouldn't be much in the way of a trademark dispute, since the products are completely not like each other.

Then explain how Lotus successfully sued the people who make Jello over the 1-2-3 name? Would you say that those products are similar? I'd agree that it would be silly to sue, but you certainly could.
A lot depends on the category ("classification") the trademark is issued in. Incidentally, I suspect that trademark may have had something to do with the Banshee name change...

Well, these people could be making this all up and just trying to make big bucks from CP. There is a site, www.msdwonline.com, that has the same problem going on. Morgan Stanley Dean Witter wanted the site to go with their business. Somebody already had gotten it and "squatted" waiting for MS&DW to run into this. So he ran a "Mud Sweats Downhill World" site to try and convince them when they encountered it that he wasn't squatting, but of course he was. The site is inactive now, if you go to it, as they are in the middle of a lawsuit.

The "millenium force drink" could just be crap as some person is trying to make big bucks off CP. Just a possibility.
Or its actually a real drink.
I think it's water. A gimmick.

Hypothetically speaking, how much do you think CP would charge for a can of Millennium Force? :)
I don't know, but I'll tell you this.. I have every intention of ordering some and drinking it while waiting in line for the ride as visibly as possible... If I get asked about it, I'll just say, "you've ridden the ultimate... now DRINK it!"

People will think I'm nuts, but really. Everyone in that line will get to ride Millennium Force... but how many will be CONSUMING it? So I have to order me at least a six pack of Millennium Force :-)

I know just a tad about this trademark deal since I've personally applied for one.

Incidentally, I find it interesting that the filing date on this trademark was July 2, 1999. So while we were all speculating as to the new coaster's name, it was already in the books.
