Enthusiasts on notice

You and how many tens of thousands of 'enthusiast' club members?

So as Lee said, this group can be responsible for more than their share of the customer service headaches while insignificant to the park's profits as a whole. Nevertheless, they still aren't saying "Take your CoasterMania and stick it where the sun don't shine", simply "watch your unsafe behavior". Pay attention. Be thankful for the warning.

I don't think anyone understands what i am talking about. yay! a warning, parks safer YES I GOT THAT! i was just saying that if we don't matter so much and they can survive without us, why treat us like we are the bully when all we want to do is have fun, and why blame us for other peoples stupidity? I don't need a warning cause i don't exibit "unsafe behavior".

Coaster Playa do you watch the news? its called numbers and facts! It is a fact that traveling is down due to the high gas prices, i am not only talking about Enthusiasts i am talking about the whole country, get your head out of your sweater and watch the news they have some good info on there. Wow gas prices are high so the whole country is traveling less, what a concept.

I think TheOne is confusing what Mr. Fussner said with what Jeff was editorializing about. Jeff said the parks didn't need us. Mr. Fussner didn't say that.

I have said many times before on here that enthusiast events are getting to be more of a problem to parks than it is worth to them. It is a shame that a few people can ruin something for everyone but that is the way the world works these days.

I wouldn't underestimate the insurance comanies' role in these types of warnings to enthusiasts. If Joe Blow breaks the rules then no one sees it, if an enthusiast breaks a rule then it's on the Travel Channel for everyone to see including insurers and regulators who Cedar Point must comply with. If the enthusiasts have any value at all it's in the publicity they bring the park, and its that same exposure that caused Cedar Fair to single these groups out. Its not a cop out.
Chief Wahoo is on track, yes i know it was editorialzed, but that was only one of the problems i had with the letter, the main one is saying that we are Enthusiasts, we break rules, and get others to do it with us cause we are such trouble makers. It insults me that the people at CP would rather see someone they have never seen there before to dump alot of money one time then someone to come back the rest of their life, like most of us here on this board. Just because we are Enthusiasts doesn't mean all of us break the rules.

Wow, you're so right, Mr. TheOne001.

With amusement parks so very, very, very far away from big cities like NYC, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia to name a few, no one goes anymore. In fact, I had to remove a bumper sticker for my local amusement park because kids kept heaving themselves on my bumper, screaming "Taaaaaake me with youuuuuuu" as I tried to shake them off.

No one really cares what you had to say about gas prices...it's meaningless in this particular discussion. CP is still a tankful away from its target market--same case for the other CF and SF properties.

Speaking of sweaters, tho--where can I get one like that all-too-slick-and-awesome you're stylin' with in your info pic?

So what your saying is that the target market for CP is one tank of gas area? do you really belive they would put up hotels, and resorts for a target market of one tank round trip market? i am sorry but driving 260 miles round trip is a bit far when gas costs $2 a gallon. The target Market for CP on Labor Day weekend isn't the usuals at the park, you would be lying to yourself if you actually believed that. I put off my Trip to a SF park because gas prices are tooo high, yes its a factor. Season Pass holders and Enthusiasts in the area aren't the target market. Trying to get someone out of state to stay at the hotels is. Anyway that got off tiopic.

I just don't think we should be scoulded(sp?) for some idiots that do dangerous things in the name of Enthusiast.

Nope. If you read better, you'd see I said a tankful away--but let's even forget I said that for a minute.

i am sorry but driving 260 miles round trip is a bit far when gas costs $2 a gallon.

But if you were taking your scary, scary long trip in, oh let's just say your average Ford Taurus (3.0 engine, 25 MPG freeway and an 18 gallon fuel tank) you'd still be only a tank of gas away round trip.

Oops, just proved my point yourself, didn't you? Thanks for playing. Please remove your tiddly-winks from my chess board while we get back to the topic: Self-important enthusiasses who just can't accept a little hint!

Do you even understand what i am saying CoasterPlayer? Yes There is a er at the end of both those words! Who said anyone was self-important? oh yeah thats right you did, you "thought" i wanted something special and i "think" i am more special then the GP, when all i said was that we shouldn't be labeled as the trouble makers cause we love coasters and have the title of Enthusiasts, not all of us unlock out seat belts during the ride to get "more air-time". Safety is an issue, totally but singling us out is just wrong.

I am wondering, was there a specific incident that led you to write the article?

You mean besides the fact that Cedar Fair sent me a letter? Yeah, the silence on the topic on behalf of the vast majority of the enthusiast community.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

If most enthusiasts were honest I think they would admit that they bend, if not break, the rules on a fairly regular basis. There is a sense amongst a portion of the community that thinks:

a) I am invincible b/c I ride all the time.

b) I don't need to follow the rules b/c I ride all the time.

c) I know more than these seasonal operators b/c I ride all the time.

Unfortunately, the irresponsible enthusiasts are often the loudest and most visible enthusiasts.

"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."

The gasoline argument goes along with the old Cedar Point vs. the economy argument (first brought up by Wall Street Analyst Peter Lynch). That is for every person who now can not go to Cedar Point because of high gas prices or poor economy, there is a person who now must settle to go to Cedar Point rather than some more distant and expensive location (or fly somewhere for that matter).
Why do enthusiasts consider themselves to be Gods in the Amusement Industry? We are normal people, general public who love to ride coasters and wish to let others know how much we appreciate them. We are not entitled to special treatment because we like coasters. Sometimes we are given the gift of ERT and we should be thankful. Also, the parks that supply food for the events always have done a wonderful job! I never leave hungry and the food is always good.

You are just like anyone else on this planet. If you break the rules, you will be thrown out just like anyone else would be. Please don't ruin things for the rest of us just because you think you are better then other people. A lot of people are a lot of different things, I could claim that since I am an artist that I should be allowed to take my camera on the ride for the sake of art. I can't and won't do that! We are all human beings with all different kinds of interests and we need to realize that no one is more special then anyone else. We seem to have a better then thou attitude and we need to come together as a group and remember that we can't act like this.

Coaster organizations were formed so that we can have fun and show the parks our enthusiasm for coasters at the same time. Please remember that coasters could disappear at any time.

Wow... that was perfect. Good for you, beccaraptor. I'm really impressed! I wish a lot more people thought the way you do.

So would you like to explain to me why you have a POV of Magnum on your website that you shot with your digital camera on the ride? I really liked your post at first beccaraptor then after checking your profile I find that you completely contradicted yourself. These are some of the exact reasons why the enthusiast community are under fire. You broke the rules and knew it yet, you completely just lied to everybody on this board. I hope you have a good explanation for this?

(I meant to include this in my original post but I didn't.)
Yeah I do actually. I make mistakes like anyone else. My views have completely changed over the past few years. I was the victim of the "holier then thou" attitude. Where do you think I got the whole idea about it? It was not very long ago that I realized what I was acting like, along with everyone else. I saw videos with people that had their lap bars up. I immitated then at first and then I changed my mind about it all. It was stupid and now I see that. I no longer take my camera on rides unless the park says I can. Also, that video was because of me wanting to be cool like someone else. I am sorry I have to bring them up but it is true and I am very sorry I ever followed suit. At my age I should know better then to imitate what I see and for that I am an idiot.
