In another post someone had mentioned that you get to enter the park a half our early if you're a guest at one of the resorts... is this accurate?
Before leaving in the morning for the park, stop at the Front Desk and ask for a Resort Guest ERT card. They'll fill one out and give it to you. You will then need to present it at the gate (or, if you're at the front gate, you'll present it just inside the park to get past the holding area).

Don't even get me started!
They are suppose to check your season pass for Joe Cool or ask, and take, your resort card, but yes, for some reason, some employees don't know or don't care. Earlier this year at the Magnum gate they were just letting everyone in. I mentioned it to the person at the turnstyle who just kind of blew me off... So when I wrote a nice letter letting the park know about the problem, I received a response that basically said, "well, we can take it off your pass and give you your $15 back." Not, "we're sorry" or "thank you for bringing it to our attention." Just sort of rubbed me the wrong way.

I find it unfair maybe I wont buy JCC and just go in like everyone else. I remeber 2 seasons ago they were so strict about the JCC and Resort.
I wish they still were... :(

When I was there in early August they were just letting anyone in at the Magnum entrance (we were staying at the Hotel Breakers). We thought it odd that they did not ask to see our pass or anything after the girl at the front desk had made such a big deal about it.
It's always time for a Cedar Point road trip!
Go figure the one day I have a friend with me, who isn't a passholder like my mom and I are (with Joe Cool) is the one day that I've seen them check at the Magnum gate. I have crappy luck most of the time. Really though, if they're not checking at the Magnum or beach entrance, how many more people are going to come in than normaly would? Because for the most part it is all resort guests that use those two gates. I can see why they don't always check at those gates.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
But, don't you think that if you have a rule and a standard procedure that is followed at other entrances, you should follow it at them all?

You should, but, that doesn't mean it will be followed. And like I said, I'm not saying its right, but I can see why they wouldn't be too worried about checking at those two entrances.

There are many more benifits then getting in a half hour early if you stay at Breakers. Benifits that really couldn't be marketed. The ability to go into the park, or go back to the hotel without affecting the rest of your parties enjoyment for instance. If someone wants to sleep in then fine...etc. The extra 30 minutes you get is just another plus. The only problem I see is that the park advertises an hour early entrance. That was our problem with the program. In reality, however, it wasn't a huge issue.
Lets just be thankful they offer any early admission to the park.
I don't know what the procedure is at the other gates, but at the front gate we definately check for resort pass/JCC at the blue gates. I know the Magnum gate (and the Marina gate too) at least used to set up some blue gates and check for passes much like how we do at the front, but I don't know what their procedures are now.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
When I was there in the middle of August, no one checked our resort ID at the gate. They just let my entire group of eight people in, even though two of them weren't staying at the resort with us. Actually, the person at the front desk of our resort said my one resort card was good for anyone with me. I don't know if that's true or not, but no one checked regardless.
I was also a little surprised that the MF line was back to the soda machines at 9:05 AM too. Seemed like a lot of people to be staying at the resorts or with JCC.
We stay at campers village (for many years now). Upon checkin, they give me a ERT card that is dated the length of my stay. I take that to the enterance and show them the card and they let us in. I am able to keep the card and they have never kept it. Same ERT card gets you in early everyday of your stay as long as the date on the card is current (last day of your reservation). I have been turned away, as I got to the enterance and had forgot my card. We always enter at the soak city enterance and they always check the date to make sure the card is valid back there.
During Halloweekends they let everyone in early if its a sat. I know when we had coastermania the past 2 years 05 and 06 they let us stay in the area we was in but wasnt able to ride if we didnt have a JCC or was staying at a resort. I know most arent too happy when you go though the gate early with your card right at the sky ride.
