Early closing for cold and rain?

Mornin' folks -

I'm headed up to the Point for the 4th weekend in a row, but this time I'm working Scream Team for the haunted houses. I was checking out the forecast, and tonite's looking cold and rainy and windy, and most of Saturday's got a similar forecast. Sunday is not rainy, but no higher than 45. Now I realize that weathermen are never accurate, especially with the weather over the Point (I've experienced many times when its raining inland and gorgeous on the peninsula), but will the park close early if the weather's so wet or cold that no one's there? I can't remember it ever doing that, but I also don't ever remember being there on a weekend this cold! Thanks if anyone can bring my hopes up of a decent night's sleep this weekend ;)

I wasn't there, but I seem to recall last year the park closed early one Friday in October. There was a thread on this site about it. Same thing as today, cold and rainy. I wouldn't be surprised if they closed early, I cann't imagine many people are going to show up tonight.

Actualy it was in 2000 or 2001(cant remember) that the park closed early on a friday night. It was like 30 degrees out, sleeting, and only about 100-200 peeps in the park. I was working on the millennium force crew for halloweekends that year and got sent home early because of the cold weather the ride couldent run.
It was in 2001 dave....i think like the 3 halloweekend

It was indeed in 2001. Friday October 5th to be exact. The temperature was in the upper 40's, it was raining non stop and it was also very windy. The only major rides open were the Iron Dragon and the Power Tower. The park closed early at 9:00 PM, instead of the scheduled 12 midnight.

Closing weekend, Friday October 26th wasn't a whole lot better. No rain, but a temperature of 39 degrees (F) with a wind chill of 18 degrees. The weather on the following day (Saturday) was similar .

I have heard from some people in charge that it won't happen again, sorry. By the sound of it they regret the first time.
There was a lot of discussion on this issue after it happened:
