DT Theming Update

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems the description of DT has changed:

Queuing area is in blacklight with fluorescent paint creating a 3-D effect. 3-D glasses are available for purchase. Ride experience will be enhanced with a starfield lighting effect. Could it be that DT is updating their theming...myfriend who worked on DT last year heard that it was going "3-D" this year

-----------------

I never noticed that before. However I don't remember much of the queing Area ethier. I saw where you got your info from @ http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill/disaster.cfm

How many sea gulls is there at CP?

yeah, someone pointed that out in this thread. yes, it is interesting that the changed the description, I hope this change is for the better, altough, it's pretty hard to get any worse than DT already is!

That would be weird wearing glasses on the ride....

At a cost though? That's a bummer.

It's probably just the glasses from HalloWeekends with a normal logo...or maybe they could be promotions for HalloWeekends and could be a reminder if people take them home. I'd doubt that they would be allowed on the ride, because they could fly off.

Choas (a coaster at opryland) had 3D glasses. Although I think the glasses might be left over from holloweekends. The Starfield might be the polka dot room!Or the flashing light bulbs in the helix!:-) Any way I hope the ride is improved, DT was my first CP coaster!

If it's anything like Spiderman at IOA, ( I know I'm reaching) I'll buy a pair.

They do let you wear glasses on the other coasters, including MF. Granted nobody tried to wear 3d glasses, but still :).

I think I will wear 3d glasses on all the other rides to see what kind of reaction I get.

Maybe the 3D glasses would have some sort of cheap elastic band attached that went around your head so that they wouldn't fly off.

"What time is the snow going to stop?"

The glasses would only fly off if you take them off in my opinion. DT isn't exactly a rough or insanely fast ride.

Will I be the only one wearing the glasses elsewhere in the park if they have the DT logo or say Disaster Transport on them?

No Way I would also be purchasing and wearing these glasses simply because it's a piece of Roller Coaster stuff.

"Why Should My Fun Have To End? For Me It's Only The Beginning."

That was Chaos, at Opryland's, biggest problem. The 3-D glasses lasted for only about 3 years untill the park realized it would be less of a clean-up hassle to get rid of them. To me the ride was the coolest thing with and w/ out the glasses. It was all about the music.

Now if DT was cleaned up and given a decent music score it would be a lot of fun!

Yeah, get back with me with the kind of reaction people give you. :)

In order to ride MF with glasses, you must have a band around them...the band would cost more than the glasses if they are just the paper ones they had at HalloWeekends last year.

And don't tell me that little rides can't claim loose items like glasses because last year, my hat flew off on the last suspecting ride to take loose articles...Cedar Creek Mine Ride. It was the only ride I didn't take my hat off on...and it was my last. :(

I don't think you need a band to wear glasses on MF. I wore my sunglasses at night several times last year while riding and they dit not have a band.

Also, I think the little rides claim more loose articles then the big ones because people are not as suspect. I've caught a couple hats at the top of corkscrew and a slew of them on Gemini (those are little rides now ;)) and only one on Magnum.

I just think that it is awesome that they talk about it being COMPLETELY in the dark. My memories of DT were that the ride was not completely in the dark. This will indeed make it more exciting...along with adding the 3-d effect.
Alright my thing with the 3D glass are that they will not stay on. These glasses are not like glass used for seeing, I bet these glasses will be cheep little paper glasses, nothing that will stay on all day or on all of the rides.

If you get rid of the square wheels on Mean Streak, There will be no mean left in the Mean Streak. Are we going to call it Streak now? KEEP IT AS IT IS!

Ah, CP rules... you underestimate the power of paper! ;) (And my ability to be weird, I'll make them last!)

-----------------

If they are worried about them flying off, I think they will include that annoying piece of string elastic to hold them on. The elastic that is the size of this line width |

The problem I forsee is that if they aren't attached somehow, and many people's glasses fly off and land in the trough, the building might cause a problem with the ride running smoothly.
