DT Theming

Just one quick question-

What was the company that did the original- "good" theming. I thought that I saw it in another thread, but I can't seem to find it.

Thanks.

If you are talking about the conversion from Avalanche Run to DT is was ITEC productions. AR was done by Intamin AG. *** Edited 7/9/2004 8:31:10 AM UTC by Browntggrr***

Beer and golf Thursday thru Monday, Cedar Point & beer, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Can you see One-Eyed-Willie from the top of Magnum?

Yes, I also remember an exact thread like this that had a ton of posts.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

Did they replace the track or reroute it (for lack of a better word) on AR when they covered it or did they just stick an ugly building on it?
Nothing but stick an ugly building around it and give it a semi-clever theme that they let rot starting about 4 years later.
Sorry, but I've been interested in DT lately.

I asked who did the theming because I thought that I could go to their(ITECH) site and maybe find some pictures of the theming that they did on DT.

Since they don't, does anyone have any photos of it. I'm talking about the first and only "good" theming.

Thanks.

i dont have photos but i remember the screen with the explosion, for the time it was cool. the robot was cool when it moved and flashed. i think it would be cool if they renovated it once more.

I'm always dancing and parting in the que lines so if ya see me just yell TEAM RAMROD!!

DT isn't a bad ride, as is the theming. It just needs a little upkeep. I could see the ride going down someday because they neglect it.
Question for any of you who may recall. Back when DT opened I remember a large screen placed out on the outside of the building near the "12E" with the DT logo exploding. Any reason why it was removed and when did it happen?

America's Roller coast

I love the ride Disaster Transport, as far as the themeing goes that's a whole differant story. I think Cedar Point should change the themeing or just make the whole ride dark...
The whole ride was dark when i rode it in 2002.

Rather boring.

what is the with the stupid DispatchAster Transport line? Because the ride ops say enjoy your ride on Dispatchaster Transport. It makes no sence.

"Thats when friends were nice, to think of them just makes you feel nice"

It's dispatch master transport i think, so when smashed together it makes disaster transport.
I've never heard anyone say that. Though the story goes, originally it was Dispatch Master Transport, then as a foreshadowing, the "patch" and the "M" fall out of the DT logo, making it "Disaster Transport".

Edit: (My link didn't work) The photo is at thepointonline.com under the DT section.

If anyone can find the logo I'm descibing, please give me a link that works. *** Edited 7/18/2004 3:21:05 AM UTC by Topthrill420***

The spiel is, "Welcome to Dispatch Master Transport....." In the original theming you were being sent to Alaska to either avoid something or to just ... go to Alaska. In any case, with the original theming in tact the second larger drop where you end up going the fastest there was a speaker that would say, "We're loosing control! We're loosing control!" Hence the name Disaster Transport. It is Disaster Transport because "something went wrong" during the shipment of you to Alaska, but the "AI robot" gets things under control and you end up on the other side in Alaska, safe and sound.

I did like the multiple robots and the lady that talked to you for like 20 minutes ... made the line go a lot faster since the first two rooms were completely filled to the brim as far as queues go... and I think the third room was filled as well...

In the story, there were actually a couple of things that "went wrong".

First off, in the "old theming" the robots argue about the "bugs" in the system and that it has not been perfected yet.

Next, you can still see today, the "Reject" sign light up in the last queue room. I don't really understand what it really means, but I know it isn't good.

Another thing is the "overheating" light that goes off when you are about to go up the lift hill, and it is still there today.

Lastly, when you just go down the lift hill, you used to hear the AI say something along the lines of, "Space Pirates, dead ahead. I'm taking evasive manuevers!"

And Ben, where did you get the idea that you end up on the "other side" of Alaska? Just wondering.

That "Overheating" light has been burned out all season this year.

That sucks. I think that was possibly one of the last reminders of the old sceanary. (for lack of spelling)
Has anyone experienced the DT in 3D yet? Is it anything worth metioning or lame like it always has been. I was curious to check it out but not for 45 mins. On a side note, DT themeing was pretty good in the year it opened. I remember it being pretty exciting wondering what room came next and hearing the sleds go through the ride.
The overheating light worked in May.

I guess DT once had more queue rooms with robots and stuff, but those areas are used for Halloweekends now.
