DT themeing

Has anyone noticed that the themeing for DT has been semi-resurrected? I was there on 9/3 and the lights were going and the sound was playing. Is this recent, or has it been like this all season? Was it like this last year and I just didn't notice?

BTW lines were incredibly short most of the day. Has anyone had experience going more than once on the Friday before labor day? I'm wondering if it is a consistent thing or just a singular occurence.

yea semi-resurrected- with mixing themes (stupid)HA! yet it is still horriblw, tear it down, its old and dumb!
Thanks for that highly educated post...
It's still the ride you can ride with A\C with a break from the outside. Leave it alone.

I love the ride, it's just different from any other coast at CP. A nice break from the craziness of the outdoors and heat. Yeah, I did notice when I went that the line was pretty much a walk on, then I went back again later in the day to find a 1/2 hr wait, so take that info however you want to.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

The black lights in line are cool although you never are in the first room for very long. Does anyone buy the glow stuff at the front of the line?
Anyway, I like the parts of the ride where it is totally dark. If they just turned off all the lights and had no theming, it would be even better!

Race For The Sky!

That would just make more people talk crap about the ride.

And we wouldn't want that now, would we? ;)

Not really. It gets old after a while.

Do those 3d glasses they sell at the begining of the line actually do anything? First of all riding a roller coaster is a 3d experience. Your body moves in all 3 dimensions so there pointless (The numerous glasses tossed off in the block brakes area can attest). I guess the only things they would be good for is the pictures in the first room. Didnt they used to have like a robot in the room that has the metal walls that make a hallway? I think the robot used to like move his hands and stuff but i guess too high of operating costs. But then again what about that sign that says "REJECT" above the doorframe before going up the stairs?
I was there on 8/22, and rode Disaster Transport for the first time in a long, long time. The line was 45 minutes (really not cool, considering I waited that long for Dragster.) but yes, they did have the lights and sounds working.

And FunkyJive, yeah...there used to be two robots in one of DT's rooms. I forget their names.

I think that CP could do something with that building if they got rid of DT. Would be a great place for a new dark ride.

I'm not impressed with the ride or effects.

DT is a fun ride and is great for kids with it's 46" height restriction. It serves a purpose for younger riders, and for guests who may not want to ride some of the more extreme rides. Plus, it is a very unique ride that is not found at most other parks. How many Intamin Bobsleds are in operation world wide?

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I think they should gut the whole ride completely and abandon the space voyage theme. Build a whole new theme around the coaster and rename it.

I think an indoor Avalanche theme, where you're trying to out run an oncoming avalanche. You could theme the queue like a ski resort and also rename it back to Avalanche Run. It would take a little investment, but with the building already there, you'd just have to repaint it to look like an alpine ski lodge.

It would definitely bring some life back to that building and make it look a lot nicer than the warehouse that it is now.

What was so wrong with the original Avalanche Run that they had to scrap it, cover it and retheme it? I remember really enjoying it.

I never had a chance to ride Avalanche Run, but I did enjoy Disaster Transport. Even though the ride wasn't the fastest or tallest, just waiting in that line (not to mention A/C) made up for it. Now though, I go on it just to relive old memories, particularly just before the last set of turns, I scream "Oh no, I'm losing control"

AR was prime was a great ride experience, you couldn't beat the view and the breeze from the lake... it was practically on the beach. Covering it up just didn't make any sense. I remember riding DT it's first week, the theming was pretty cool and was kept up only for a few seasons, its a shame what it has resulted to. "Look out, space pirates ahead..."

I have always been curious as to why it was even made into Disaster Transport. I never got to ride Avalanche Run (was born the year that it was converted into DT!) so I really wouldn't know its pros and its cons. I would assume that it being practically right on the beach would result in a lot of sand getting blown onto the trough.

Anyone care to fill me in?

The line would've had to have been out the entrance to be a 1 1/2 hour wait. I've waited when all remaining rooms were full (just up to the entrance) and it was only 45 min.
