I don't know if anyone mentioned this but on page 7 on the getaway guide, the picture of DT the people all have like 3d glasses on or whatever..... whats that about???
Maverick steals the #1 spot, sorry MF
They used to sell 3d glasses for $2 a pop. They had some '3d effects' in line but it wasn't very impressive if I remember correctly.
Now that is a waste of an employee that could be used elsewhere in the park.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Those are the glasses you always see laying around in other line queues. I saw a pair in Wicked Twisters line Opening day. I save my $1 HalloWeekends souvenir 3D glasses from Pharoah's Secret because they have the HW logo on them, and that haunted house is a lot better with the glasses. The only real 3D props in the DT line are the fake crates toward the beginning and the DT car they have toward the end of the large room. There's nothing that has a wow factor that warrants the 3D glasses. It's funny to see the promo photo of people wearing them on the ride. Fwiw, Kings Island's Halloween Haunt CarnEVIL indoor haunted house uses the same 3D glasses except plain black with no logos. They're free, so you toss them in a bin at the end or can keep them. Charging $1 for them in DT is nuts. I'm not sure if the Ride Prides that sell them when it's Pharoah's Secret get a cut or not.
Yeah, I agree with HalloWeekends! We bought them in 2005 and they were definately a waste of money! The only things that are 3D are in the queue and like HalloWeekends! said, they are NOT impressive at all. Some of it just looks like they just sloppily spray painted parts of the wall with 3D paint. During the ride I don't recall anything being 3D, and the glasses keep falling off of your head anyways.
I think that DT would be a pretty cool coaster for beginners, kids, the elderly, and people afraid of heights (but still love that coaster feeling), IF they would decide what there theme is going to be. Or take all themes completely away. It seems like they keep on trying to revamp it, but it doesn't really work. I say take the building around it down and let Avalance Run live for a little bit longer.

Well, those glasses are more prismatic than actual 3D. So in the queue the day glo paint takes on depth depending on the color of the paint. In the ride, they had tiny lights for a star field effect, and looking at those thru the glasses made them really sparkle. They sell the same things around the holidays for looking at Christmas lights. I thought it was a cheap gimmick to make a buck and not very effective. After our ride we went to the door and gave our glasses to some kids.
Lately they haven't been selling them. Maybe on the busiest of days.
And those people in the picture crack me up. They all have their hands on the assist bars (safety first!), they look braced for action, and the shot clearly was taken in the station! I hope the models weren't too disappointed that they didn't get to actually ride...
