What is Cedar Point's policy for dropping someone off at the main gate. Do you have to pay for parking? Is there a designated drop off area?

They will have to pay for parking. They can pull up to the curb in front, but be careful as there will be a lot of pedestrians. Might be able to pull into the marina lot to drop-off/turn-around, but I'm not sure.

I believe, if you are in for less than 10 or 15 minutes, you can get your money back. Did it before a couple of years ago.
^That is correct. But I think it might actually be 30 minutes. But as long as you keep your parking ticket, you can stop at the main toll booth on your way out and get your money back.
Actually a few years ago i went down there with my friends but one of there dads drove. He pulled up to the booth and said im just dropping the two off at the entrance and going to go back to the hotel. The worker made him pay full 10 bucks but gave him a coupon for free parking that he had to turn in at the booth before he left to receive a full refund.

Yep, pretty sure it is a time stamped coupon of sorts they give you, but you still have to pay the 50 cent causeway toll.
Just your usual come and go poster. One week I am here, then I disappear for a while.
You pay $10 to get in, if the person dropping you off is there for less than 30 minutes, they get $9.50 refunded to them on their way out. Make sure you mention that you're dropping off at the tollbooth. Not sure if it's totally necessary, but better safe than sorry.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
if you're dropping off someone thats old enough for them to be working at Cedar Point, just tell them you're processing in. Lots of people I knew got free parking that way.

When you say you are processing in they are supposed to check for your contract, so if you don't have one you don't get in (for free).
Sometimes pre-season I think they will just let you through, but after the park opens for the season they are usually pretty good about checking.

Which does not make sense to me seeing as how you do not need your contract to process in.
