Driving Directions

I went to cedar point earlier this year for the first time and will be going back this weekend. I'm coming from Alabama. Here is what my directions say once your in ohio: 71-N exit towards Cincy, exit 23A. Then take 71-N/75-N Exit...continue to 71-N towards Columbus. Take 70-E/71-N exit towards clevland/wheeling. Take 71-N to clevland and merge to 71-N. Take US-250 exit towards Ashland/Wooster. This is where it just screws up. At this point your off the interstate and your on local roads for 1 1/2 hours before you get to cedar point. There MUST be a way to just stay on the interstate the entire way. Please tell me some good directions. HELP!

If you're looking for a reasonable way to travel and stay on interstates as long as possible, you've already got it. I suppose you could take I-75 north to the Turnpike, but that's going out of the way.

Some of our Columbus folk will recommend another route once you get to central Ohio, but that will increase your "2-lane" travel to 2 1/2 hours.

Snipt,

Sorry, the Columbus/Sandusky Interstate project was never built and the quickest way is 'local roads' which are quite well maintained and have relatively little traffic.

Those directions are relatively accurate though instead of exiting at US250, OH-13 might bew a better bet/straighter shot as it joins up wtih 250 in Fitchville and takes you into Sandusky or others would reccomend taking US-23 out of Columbus to OH-4 up into Sandusky. Either way is pretty good and is much quicker and shorter than taking I-75 to the turnpike or I-71 to the turnpike. Just look at an Ohio map and you'll see what we mean.

For 8 years I insisted on the 23N to 98N to 4N route myself. Straight shot and nothing like knowing every single house, horse, church and cow on the way. However, 23 is a bear the majority of the time, between the stores, traffic, construcion, and those annoying "prepare to stop when flashing" yellow lights.....blech :(
Only advantage to this route? Hardees! Yummy :)

For GL's OD we went 71N and noticed the 250 signs, my hubby asked if that would take us to CP. The next time we went to CP, we winged it that way and thank goodness! It is cake! :) It is 12 miles longer for us, but takes 15 minutes less. 250W weaves here and there but well marked. Not to mention, unlike 98 and 4, there are several places to stop and eat (and other things) on the way. You can simply stay on 250W thru downtown Sandusky to the causeway.
Being a seasoned Po!nter and Columbus'ian I would highly recommend that route. You'll never see either one of our trucks on 98 or 4 again!

Have fun!! :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

Jo, tha'ts a decent route, but 13 is shorter than 250. I went to school in Cincy for 6 years (originally from Sandusky) and now am a Columbusian ;-) I've taken every conceiveable route. I-71 to OH-13 to US-250 is the best route to Sandusky from Columbus and points south.
