Riding Dragster right before close on the 28th I got my first rollback.
I almost cried I was so excited. I wasn't so much concerned why it happened as just the fact that it did.
But I guess I had sort of assumed it was the weight of the train. There were three or four empty seats.

Magnum still rocks.
I guess I'm the only person on PointBuzz that hasn't had a rollback yet. :(
I'm so unlucky! I never get the right train!
Next time, I'm going to go for a train that has some empty seats.

Everyone's partly right, the weight of the train matters, but not as much as the speed that the train is going at. Of course if you have a really light train the speed should be higher. But if for some reason the speed of a light train, and the speed of the heavy train are the same then the heavy train has a better chance of making it over. So if RATHOFDOOM is right and the trains do get, and the speed of launch is based on the weight of the train, then heavy trains would have a better chance than light trains. Because the will have more momentom from being heavier and from being shot out with more force to get to the same speed as the light trains. My theroy can be backed up by watchin the ride operators testing TTD early in the day. A lot of times you will see 5 rollbacks in 10 launches. Thus if you want a rollback go on TTD alone.
TTD120, you are not the only person, I haven't had that experience yet either.
Funny story though... the guy that cleans the windows at my computer store came in a couple weeks ago, he told me that he was there over the previous weekend, and that he got a rollback on his first trip to the point since TTD was built. :)
Luck of the draw, I think.
Correct me if I am wrong but as far as I know, after a train is launched the computer system adjusts the launch speed for the next cycle so the next train is not an over speed or a rollback. So if a train is lauched that has two seats empty, the computer will adjust the next train slower to prevent an over speed and vice versa with a full / heavy train.

I was watching a show on the History Channel and Top Thrill Dragster just happened to be on it. And Monty Jasper said each train is weighed and then the computer makes calculations on which speed to launch the train. He also said the difference between 2-3 mph could cause a rollback or an over speed going over the tower.
As for the computer collecting data and then adjusting the speed probably doesn't happed because if you have a train weighing 1.5 tons and the next one weighs 2 tons there is a thousand pound difference and if they relied on the caulculations of the previous train the second train would deffenatally rollback.
Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.
Just wondering if anyone even bothers reading the news that is posted on the main page.

AT Coastermania last year we had enouph people to fill a train so we all wore wind jackets. We put are heaviest people in the back a lightest in the front. When we lauched we all put are hoods up realy high. We were going so slow we stopped at the top for like 2 sec then went forward i was pissed.
I had a rollback. :)
