So On sunday I dont know how many of you were at the park. But Dragster went down and they got the problem fixed after 10:00. We had maybe 4 train loads in the station and Matt "OZ" came down to entrance with me and we opened Dragster from 10:05 to 10:50. I think that this was a great thing to do for the public. They could have very easily said sorry to everyone ran the 4 trains and called it a night. I have to say that it was a great move by CP to do this. What do you guys all think!?
2005-2007 Cedar Point
2007-2008 Dueling Dragons TL
2008- present Sea World Orlando Shamu Lead Area 2
With the amount of people in the park on Sunday that was a great move . I wish I had a chance to use it but the wife and kiddies were ready to go home.
Same thing happened at Raptor that night. It had some downtime between 9-9:45 or so, and they kept the line open until 10:30. I think it's becoming a pretty common thing when rides have late day break downs.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
When I was there in June they did the same thing. I got the last ride of the night on MF and TTD.

101 on Magnum and counting...
I also think this is great. I was there Sunday, and wished I had of passed by after 10pm. I thought it looked like it was down for most of the evening.
Thrills Around the Corner!
My friend and I ran over after eating dinner around 9:15 and saw that dragster was down, but seeing as we had only gotten one ride on it and it's our favorite coaster, we decided to stick it out. We were also the second people in line and were talking with the fill in ride op who had 2 volunteer days from hell with dragster being down an entire day on saturday and having to tell people it was closed, and then with dragster being off and on on sunday doing the same thing. I think it's a great thing to do though, but something that I think they could do better is open up the line area and put the people waiting in there and close it off around 10:10 regardless and then let the people in get basically ERT on the ride because what I saw was that there were around 10-15 loyal fans waiting it out (as well as one drunk guy who got arrested, but that's a different story), then as soon as a test train was launched, the line grew to around the equivalent of 2-3 city blocks, reaching past the bleachers. I still managed to get 2 rides in in the 30 or so minute time period, and am thankful that I even got one, but if there were less people, I would've been happier. :)
I think the person behind me was a pointbuzzer, but didn't get to ask, but when we started talking about dragster, he kinda got like a magical glow over his face and then said he had rode it many many times in the past. Anyways, Cedar Point did the best they could with a pretty tough situation.
Ride Count at Dorney Park so far this year:
Hydra: 14 Laser: 3 Steel Force: 11 Talon: 18 Thunderhawk: 4
And that's just in 23 hours!
Good to hear they are still doing things like this. Back in 00 or 01, the area around MF lost power for the night so they kept open Magnum and Raptor for an extra hour. A few times the park has lost total power for a few hours, so they closed an hour later than normal.
It's a great way to help the guest remember how well they were treated after little hiccups, even ones you can't blame on the park.
Gemini 100- 6/11/01
And it also proves that CP cares for there guests, to keep other rides open late when problems occur.
