Double Tubes at Soak City

I noticed on my last trip to Soak City that all the double tubes have been removed. The +2T safety signs are covered with electrical tape on Eerie Falls, and the Pink tubes. I can't figure out why they would do this.

No kidding... that was the cheapest way to make actual skin-to-skin contact with your date!

Ha Ha I had a very funny experiance on the double tubes once. When I was about 10 we went as a family and when we got to the top of the slide we decided that me and my dad were going to go. I was a small kid back then probobly 80 lbs. and my dad was probobly 200-210. My dad sat in the frount of the tube and I was in the back the slide was great but at the bottom of the slide there was a little drop off of about 1 foot, I dont know why maybe little rain? But anyway my dad hit the water first and just launched me about 5 feet like a rocket. It was so fun!

Perhaps that was more common than you might think...and hence a good reason for eliminating double tubes? Just a thought... At Wyandot Lake, there is one slide which *requires* double- or triple-tubes. --Dave Althoff, Jr.
If that is true then it sure took them a long time to realize there was a problem. Those tubes have been in operation since the park opened. Yes, maybe a new slide is in order?

Dave, have you ever ridden the 'Mineshaft' in MIA's waterpark? They have an enclosed[!] circular tubs slide [and yes, you have to carry the heavy SOBs up the stairs. These things are the size and shape of Thunder Canyon's tubes]

They give you explicit instructions of where to and how to sit so you don't crack your heads together on the turns. That was one of the most disconcerting things I've ever heard on a ride. And yes, it is a useful instruction. That ride is *dark*.
You mean like Zoom Flume's tubes?

I wouldn't know, actually. The last time I was at Soak City was a long time ago, during a light drizzle on a 65 degree day. It was part of a double ticket.
The "launching" effect may very well be the reason for eliminating double tubes. I know of a certain park where the landing pool isn't very large and a person launched off a tube could very easily crack their skull on the concrete edge.
