Future Gatekeeper Ride OP for Summer of 2014.

There is an Anthem ad on this site in which a calendar covers most of the screen and then a woman sneezes and blows the calendar away. It has shown up 3 times on me today. Really annoying. I don't mind the ads on the side of the screen but this one is covering everything up.

Make that 4 times now.

Sounds like you might have adware or spyware. I have never seen an ad on this site that covers up the forums. I suggest Avast antivirus. It works wonders on all my windows machines.

I think it is a legit ad. It just covers them up for 2 seconds and like I said she sneezes and the calendar breaks apart and then everything is back to normal. The ad is for Anthem insurance, something about hay fever.

I am on this site daily and have not seen that ad before.

adblock plus FTW!

Dear user,

Please install Firefox and AdBlock Plus. Your problems will be solved.

-95% of the internet.

Tip: don't publically recommend blocking the ads from a site that gives you content for free, and which has admins who have total control over who gets to have an account.

Even if I didn't have an account, I would still be browsing with AdBlock Plus on, just like 95% of the internet.

For what it's worth, when I browse on my Kindle Fire, obviously there is no AdBlock there, so it evens out in the end.

I'm actually getting close to installing an adblocker just for this site, which is unfortunate. I've had ads over the past few weeks cause flash player to lock up for 2-3 minutes then finally crash either the flash player or the whole browser. It's been frustrating.

So instead if being a douchebag who denies the income of the people running this site, let us know when there are problem ads and we'll look into it. This site isn't free to produce. We have a lot of money wrapped up in hosting costs, software, hardware and cameras. If you block ads, and brag about like a teenage jerk who steals music, I'll bounce you.

I'll figure out which one is doing it at some point. I've been OK the past few visits. Not sure if it's a bad ad or a crappy release of the flash player or a combination of both.

I know probably better than anyone the cost of running a site and hosting fees, etc. I do wish you still had the ad-free version as I'd pay for it, but I understand I was one of the few doing so. It's a shame the freemium model hasn't taken off better around the internet as ads and commercials are really the butthole of the earth.

And this is why i use it. Jeff, if it makes you feel better i have added this site in the exceptions.

Solution: Uninstall Flash, and keep a copy of Chrome around for when you actually need Flash content. It would be a more viable solution if we could gt web sites to quit assuming that all desktop browsers have Flash, but still...

wow, well said Jeff. I've never understood why people just cant click through the ads and absorb the annoyance. Its part of doing business. Does anyone enjoy the thousands of billboards along the road; 20+ adds and previews when going to a movie; commercials on tv....etc? They can be enjoyable for some, but for the most part annoying. I'm not sure how it would be worth chopping off the hand that feeds you. If you feel that you need to, dont visit this site or buy premium access to avoid ads.

Blue people fly sideways when it rains

I don't remember billboards along the side of the road crashing your car, nor commercials on TV crashing your TV.

Then YOU have the problem. You've got spyware. Why does everyone block ads? Click through them. If they are malicious, contact the webmaster of the site.

I don't have spyware. I run Windows Defender daily. I don't allow spyware to get through because when I DO see ads, I don't click them like an idiot.
