Based on some of my previous posts about nasuea, I don't know if I will be able to handle the new coaster. It is definately going to be twisting around alot.
Based on the sheer number of "Back up Bronco" and "new direction" signs, I am very afraid of it going backwards. There is no way I will be able to ride it.
Hopefully I am wrong. I am sure someone here will say I am definately wrong, but I am not sure how they would know either way.
I'm prone to motion sickness, so I feel your pain, man. This coaster has a 0.00125% chance of going backwards, so I wouldn't worry about that. And the twists and turns shouldn't be a problem either, since consecutive turns negate one another (i.e. turn left, then right, then left, etc.), which helps reduce the impact, IMO.

I dont care about twisting i just dont like drops.

Yes, you see i havent ridden a coaster in years, and yes drops make me nauseous thats why i dont ride them. and hights i also dont like the feeling you get when you go down a drop. when your stomach feels like its gonna fall out i just dont feel secure without OTSR.

just to let you know about going backwards. I got a rollback recently. It really gets your stomach.

See, I'm really prone to nausea, but the drops (even backwards drops) are nothing other than exhilarating to me.

Backwards, I know Great America did it with the American Eagle. Has Cedar Point ever turned a train around for a ride? I see Blue Streak or Gemini an ideal ride for something like this. What do you all think about this.

I can't take spins or swinging really. MA, SH and waveswinger all get to me. In fact, I won't touch the swings anymore (except when my wife makes me). Scrambler is usually touch and go. But you put me on a coaster, and you can flip me spin me do whatever you want and I have no problem.

Lucky, I think i may pluck up the courage to ride some coasters at hersheypark and Kings Dominion this spring any suggestions (coasters) for someone who is trying to overcome their fear of drops?

I'll tell you a story of a friend of mine named Dan (you can find him in about all my TRs).
His wife is a coaster nut, and as such she made him start going to the Point for bi-annual trips. We started this with Halloweekends 2004. We go in May and October every year (although it appears October won't happen with them this year).
When we first started going, the extent of his coaster riding was Iron Dragon and CCMR (and WE, but that doesn't count as he was 24). And that was all he would ride. He loves flat rides, so getting him on Chaos, Scrambler, Troika etc wasn't hard, but he wasn't going near Power Tower or Demon Drop or any other coaster.
We eventually got him to ride other stuff. We started small, with coasters close in height to Iron Dragon. We got him on Wild Cat and Disaster Transport. Then on Corkscrew. We just built it up, getting progressively bigger. He doesn't like the dropping feeling, but by working his way up, he's progressively hit more and more rides. Last trip he made his first rides on Blue Streak (remember there's a lot of drops), Mantis, Mean Streak, Wicked Twister and Magnum. He has loved every single one of them, and a first ride usually turns into several in a row.
Just think of it logically. Don't run in going straight for the big ones. Start with WC and ID. Start small and work your way up. Also, sitting in the front seat helps because it minimizes the fall.
Good luck with riding coasters when you do go.

What do you suggest at Hersheypark or Kings Dominion?

I have never been to either (yet :)). But the same holds true. Start small and work your way up. Do some research before you go to see how tall rides are and what kinds of elements they have. You can do that by starting at Roller Coaster Database. It's a great resource for coaster data.

All the rides at HP are pretty tame. The only one i'd be leery of would be Stormrunner if launches make you ill. 0-72 in 2 seconds is actually a stiffer launch than Dragster.

Ride on, MrScott!
Kings Dominion is a really cool park. Volcano doesn't really have a big drop and the two launches are sweet. Their wild mouse, Ricochet is a nice starter coaster with minimal drops. Flight of Fear can be a bit dosorienting but you have no initial first drop, just the launch.
At Hersheypark I'd start with Sooperdooperlooper which isn't that big of a ride but a load of fun. The Comet is a nice old woodie with not such huge drops. Lightning Racer might work for you since you can concentrate on watching the other train and interact with your "opponents". Of course Stormrunner is awesome. Yes you have a biggish tophat but the launch will take most of the butterflies out of your stomach beforehand. ;)
Muggsy I hate backwards coasters too. I'll ride them, but don't enjoy them.

In your theory then seasickness wouldn't exist either because the up is the same as the down? No the thing that makes gives people motion sickness is moving constantly in different directions, or when you can't focus or see the horizon while moving in different directions. That's why personally I get very seasick, but once you are at the helm it's not bad at all because you can see the horizon and your body predicts the movement before it happens. For anybody that gets severe motion sickness I would recommend taking some Dramamine or Bonine, which work well for short-term. Though I suggest taking them at least an hour ahead of time and getting a very good nights sleep ahead of time, because they will make you drowsy.
One thing I can't exactly vouch for, but it worked on a TV show called Mythbusters, is a ginger pill. For them it worked like a charm, but you never know. Since it is all natural the worst thing that can happen is it not working. The ginger root actually most likely will work, and with fewer side effects.
Hope this helps!
I actually took a ginger pill in the morning and Dramamine about 45 minutes before any rides. It didn't help, or id didn't help enough. Oh well.
Well then Muggsy, perhaps it isn't motion sickness. A lot of people get nausea when they are scared or panicing. This is why people under a lot of stress sometimes just vomit for no apparent reason. Not to imply that you are too scared or anything, but take it slow. My first coaster at 14 years of age was terrifying, but progressively riding coasters since then, I have become a fanatic. Try to just build up a tolerance to them. But most of all try to HAVE FUN!;)
CoasterNut06, I might agree with you but I have been doing this for close to 30 years. In fact I was stunned when we were behind a couple of 10 year olds on Saturday and they were talking about all the sections of the queue for Gemini. We told them we remember "20 years ago" when it was new and the lines were down the midway halfway down the length of ride. Then we get up to the station and we hear them say it is 28 years old! I was 7 when that opened and I remember it like it was yesterday!
