maybe there was a threat of another storm coming through and they didnt want to risk opening it up and having it close back down due to weather again right away?
Remember, vertical drive advancing tires like on TTD, MF and Mantis will slip when they get wet (MF's are mostly covered so this isn't an issue) You wouldn't want a train srtuck halfway between the station and launch with a tire spinning under it trying to move it, possibly shredding the tire, burning out the motor, or just plain shutting down the ride.

Usually after it rains, just rains mind you. They usually wait a half hour for the ride to dry off before they test it. 9 out of 10 times the first train does it make it over because the track is still wet. This is why I ride something else such as Wicked Twister after it rains because I know Top Thrill Dragster will be down for a while after it rains.
When I was at the point on the 10th it rained at about 3:00 for a few then again at 3:30 we came back around 9:30 and it was still down and a guy told us it had been down ever since the rain. we did a few rides and came back and saw the director of park operations standing by I had left to go ride millennium as my last ride but I got 3/4 way there and they launched a train I went back and when I got in the station there Was two women I hadn't seen the previous day one looked like she had been in an office and the other one in a white shirt operating Top Thrill Dragster I got on once got back in the station and the Hydrolic had problems pressuring and the set of wheels by the launch quit so 4 Mechanics Pushed the trains out until the brakes rose. To sum that up for The day I was there Toop Thrill had a hell of a time tring to run after rain
Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.

wow, was that ever a run on sentence??? hehe.
about the 2 hours, i dont know, you dont know, and only the people who have worked on a hydralic launched ride or an intamin worker would know why it would take that long. all we got is best guess.
Hey CPKid, I was there on the 10th also. I saw the maintenance guys pushing the trains out of the station that's why I hopped in line really quick.

I imagine it must have been a long day when Toop Thrill had hydrolic problems.
Toop? Not to make fun, but thats a funny word.
Robert1282 If you saw me in the station I am the kid in i think The red shirt talkink loudly about my oppinion and saying this Sucks loudly when it broke. It was a long day. Actually I hit the o two many times. Toop actually sounds cool.
I send A special thanks out to the mechanics that night.

I have worked on the crew for two years now and we have never taken that long to bring the ride back up after rain. It is difficult to bring it up after rain only because the wheels get wet and the trains get stuck...all that good stuff. Also, the train refuses to hook onto the catch car at launch most of the time after rain...that's why you'll see maintenance pushing trains into position after a storm. I do remember a few weeks ago telling people waiting on the platform that it was pointless to wait because we knew it was going to be raining for the rest of the day. They actually sent our crew home...and we never went up for the rest of the night.
Although we do work long hours, the majority of us on the crew are happy to get as many people as we can on the ride. I'm almost positive that whoever told you that told you so you wouldn't waste your day waiting on our platform. Cedar Point isn't much fun in the rain. I hope you get to ride it in the future! I hope they've fixed it by this weekend in fact. I have to work!
P.S. It only takes a second to turn the ride on in the morning. Turning on the pumps, cycling, and test-riding takes up the rest of the time.
