Does it live up to the hype?

You guys think that WT has lived up to the hype, (if there really was any)? I mean, I don't think there was as much hype as MF, but there was a little, and a couple of my friends who critisized CP for putting in WT, and all that, but after they rode it opening day and that was the end of that. But I don't think i will ride it every time I'm up there.

I think that WT was worth the wait and while it is not one of thse rides that I am fanatical about I still enjoy the concept and the ride itself. While I do like the new ride I just feel that CP should of installed soemthing different because impulses are coasters that I don't see myself riding over and over again. But thats just my $.02

I think people dig it from the anti-hype. Most people, even hardcore fans, figured it was "just" an impulse, and while a nice addition, wasn't anything to get excited about. I know it exceeded my expectations.

I figured it wouldn't be that big of deal. Not the tallest coaster in the park. I also figured that it would have a never ending line of people which means I'd have to wait an hour or so to ride it. It looked like a waste of time.

Was I wrong. It turns out I think it's one of the best rides. I'm a junky now. It's a pretty quick ride with a pretty reasonable line.

I think the level of hype was perfect. They did enough advertising that if you were planning a trip you would know about it. A hype blitz like for MF would have jammed up the lines and created a mess.

I think the media day reviews that people gave on this site made me want to ride.

I heard so much about people saying it was "just an impulse" that nobody thought it would be special or a great ride. There was definitely a lot of "anti-hype" going on, and I'm glad to see that CP has shut those people up with this ride. I just want to have the crew hit 1000 an hour so we can show all the nay-sayers over at Coasterbuzz that is can be done.

I don't think there was really any good hype for WT, but this coaster blew everyone away. It's better than people said it would be.

One small piece of hype is the Pepsi cans that have WT on them. I can't drink a can without seeing it.

I don't know about the rest of you, but if it on a Pepsi can it's gotta be cool.........Well except for that Britney thing......:)

Personally, maybe its because I like Magnum more than Millennium...but actually, I like this ride more than Millennium also. Frankly I'm bored with Millennium. I don't want to wait in line for it anymore. Its only the drop/speed and thats it. I've only been on MF once this year, while on the other hand, I've ridden WT and Maggie 11 & 28 times, respectively. WT is now my #2 coaster at the park. (MF has dropped to #3). WT has definitely lived up to the hype for me.

I don't think you're totally alone in that regard. I'd much rather wait in a short line for Magnum or Raptor than a long one for MF. Even if the lines were equal, I'd still ride Magnum and Raptor (and probably WT) as much or more than MF. It's a great ride, and for the general public it's great, but I think its easily the third or fourth best ride in the park.

It exceeded my expectations by quite a bit. I'm still not sure if WT or Raptor is my 3rd favorite ride now, it's too close to call. A lot of people I went with in a school group on Wendsday have been putting it down for a long time. "They're ripping off Six Flags. It won't be any good." I was able to hype it enough on the bus to get everyone on it. Every last one of them loved it. My chemestry teacher rambled on in class for 5 minutes today about how much he loved it and how cool the launch was.

I really wasn't all that hyped for WT. The one part that was hyped a little was its immense size... *shrug* it was exactly as big as I expected, wasn't all that surprised by that aspect of it. As for the ride itself.. WOW! This is one incredible ride. It entirely blew me away... it greatly exceeded any expectations I had.

One aspect of the ride that did catch me by surprise was how pretty it is. All day I just couldn't stop swooning over it.

I really didn't know what to expect since I'd never been on a launched coaster before, let alone one like this. On the forums, there was much more anti-hype than hype. I love it immensely, although I have a hard time "placing" it in my list because it's totally different. I guess I would tie it for MF, but if given a choice, I'll wait an hour for WT before I'll wait 2 hours for MF.

But I do think this coaster has caught many people by surprise. Many who had ridden the six flags ones admit that WT has suprised them. I think it's the "screwing up the rear" that does it.

I think that it lived up to the hype. I rode it yesterday and it is a great ride. The backwards twist is incredible.
