Does anyone remember the snow on Mantis opening da

I was just looking at the webcam and goign through my 6 month withdrawl from Cedar Point and was thinking of opening day for Mantis (I forgot the year,I think it was 96?)

Someone asked why they don't open in April elsewher on the group. I remember that openign day the wind chill was 12. There was 6 inches of snow on the east side of Cleveland. When we rode the Raptor at 10:30 or so, there were ice pellets coming down which felt like rocks hitting your face. Heck,I was wearing sweats,a winter coat, gloves and a winter hat and was still cold. Kind of hard to imagine when it's 95 and we had to stand in lines last summer for the same ride, at least they have fans now. Just a memory...
Yes, I remember that snow. It was most unpleasant. I also remember Ted Ansley commenting all day that The Weather Channel had claimed that morning that the snow was supposed to move out of the area by noontime. TWC turned out to be wrong. --Dave Althoff, Jr.
What did they do with all the rides and coasters? I am guessing they could not open any water rides (Paddlewheel and Sir's Tubs not just the really wet ones).

The weather that following Monday was just as cold--the coldest I've ever experienced at Cedar Point. The best part was that there were very few people were in the park. Virtual walk-ups for all the rides, and a 5 minute wait for Mantis!

Do I remember the snow/sleet? I rode the Mantis in the mess! It was an extremly cold morning and the only reason we still went to the park was because I had "won"/"purchased" a seat in the first train of the Mantis. Lucky for us "winning riders" we were kept warm in the Red Garter with coffee & danish until we were walked up the exit and into the train. The ride was incredible even with the cold. I guess wind chills had to be near 10.
As for the rest of the rides running, I couldn't tell you... when the Mantis ride was over, we headed to a warm office to meet with a friend and have lunch and then headed home.
