Wow, the 12 year olds commenting on the YouTube video are even dumber than the 12 year olds we get posting on here. They deserve a swift kick in the rear.
PS- The video is awful. You aren't missing anything by not wasting your time on it.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I'm pretty disappointed with Cedar Point for selling that dude the on-ride photo of him filming the ride. Why even have rules if you're not going to enforce them?
^You can't really say the whole park doesn't care about the rules just because one employee either didn't know or didn't care about selling that guy his picture. Although it was still pretty boneheaded on his/her behalf.

why would you even risk dropping your camera during the ride to get a POV that would look horrible because the camera would not be on a stand like Cedar Point does it when you could just wait for the real POV video?! how dumb!

^ Because people are morons. I've never really had a problem with cameras and rides before last weekend when we were at Six Flags New England. Superman: Ride of Steel had so many camera offenders on it. We got stopped on the lift once and cameras were taken away. Then our very next ride, the chick in front of us had her camera out and snapping pictures the entire ride. It was ridiculous.
Cedar Point has a camera on the lift hill of Maverick. It's quite easily seen in that POV. They should've been looking for the camera then. It's not like it was all that hard to see. So, the ride operator was doing a poor job AND the photo person was also doing a bad job. Isn't part of the photo person's job to screen the photos for offensive or illegal behavior?
^that's true, that is part of their job...i guess they need to hire some new emplyees!!! i'll be willing to work! haha

Just to clear something up, even IF we were able to see it on the camera, it's to late to stop the lift at that point. And CedarPoint Freak.... nevermind.

I don't see a point in doing a POV of your own or taking pictures on rides. Why don't they just buy the Rollercoasters of Cedar Point DVD which has all the on ride footage of some of Cedar Points top Rollercoasters?
It's a thrill seeking thing, just like drinking when you're underage, it's for the thrill, and to have a story to tell the rest of your immature friends, and lol @ WaterDummy, I know exactly what you mean. We could use some new emplyees at Bst Buy.

Cedar Point shot a POV last week and will have it up on their site soon. I rode Maverick 5 times when I went on June 8th. 3 times in the front. It is the best ride in the world, and if you haven't ridden yet you really should.
I'm still probably going to wait until September or October out of crowd and schedule consideration.
I can wait... but I'm excited reading all of the reviews! :)

You don't need to stop the lift. You could make note of what train the offender is on, and get him when he comes back to the station. Take the camera and eject him from the park. Doesn't sound very hard to me. Until parks start strictly enforcing that rule, people are still going to bring cameras on rides.
Last year at Great Adventure, the crew on Nitro left the harnesses on a train locked when it came back to the station until park police showed up. Then they released the train and escorted one of the riders out of the park. I'm not sure what he did, but I was impressed they did that.

They really should wait for an overcast day to film POV's. There's a couple times that the camera whites out due to the nice clear day. Nice video though, now I really can't wait till I get there to ride.
^ - what youtube videos? The ones made by idiots illegally carrying on cameras so they can video tape the ride?

No, the Marketing Staff have an "official" YouTube account. They posted the Maverick POV as their first video. I believe it's cedarpointvideos
