I'm surprised "cost" has yet to be brought up as a factor. Taller and faster roller coasters are oftentimes cost prohibitive. (I recall Dick Kinzel mentioning in numerous "Are you going to build a 500 foot roller coaster?" interviews that it would be too expensive to do so.)

If we ever see a taller and faster coaster, I really believe it would be somewhere other than the States. I'm thinking China, or Asia in general, given their growth in the amusement area. The question is, will they find a manufacturer willing? If the price is right, of course.

If people demand it, it will happen. Honestly I don't know how much faster you'd want to go. I've ridden Formula Rossa at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi and it's a fun ride, but I don't see how adding more speed would make rides more fun. I think the general consensus around the amusement industry has been quality over gimmicks (speed/height/__________-est) lately.
