Do the cedar point shops accept American Express cards?

i just noticed on the website that they do not accept them.

i was wondering if that was for online purposes only, or if they do not accept it in the park as well.

i was planning on bringing that card with me and i suppose it would serve no purpose if they don't accept it.

thanks.

I'm not really sure... I mean I haven't heard anything about it.. I know in the Res Office, we don't accept it.. but like I said, I haven't heard anything for the shops.

Cedar Point does not accept American Express
CP only accepts cards from companies that give them kick backs.

Marco

thanks!

i would have been missing out on my cp hoodie had i not asked this question.

I haven't seen the American Express Applique anywhere for me to use mine, the one time I tried to use it, they said that they would take anything other than American Express.

I don't know if it works the same, but American Express costs more for our family business than it would for any other card.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

Yes it works the same everywhere, when a credit card is used it costs the company selling a small percentage of the total. American Express takes a much larger cut and a lot of places don't take it (thus the Visa ads). So if by kickback you mean less of a cut then yes CP takes the cards that take less of a cut. I believe you can use Amex at the hotels.

Amex is not accepted at the hotels. Except for TGI Fridays inside Breakers.

According to the CP website, no restaurants accept Amex. Bay Harbor used to, but Amex is not listed anymore for that restaurant either.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I agree, as I thought CP axed Amex at all locations. But I was at Friday's opening weekend and used an Amex to pay my tab. I was surprised when the server said they accepted it.

Hi:

Why is amex still around? Seems like a status symbol only. When I worked at Chi Chi's, they took something like 6 or 7 credit cards at the time. Needless to say I never heard of anyone pulling out a diners club or JCB. I used to own a Discover card until I realised it is unknown outside of the USA.

It's a hugely convenient way for corporations to track spending. I was issued one when I worked for Penton Media back in the day, and I used it once a year for our group's trade show and the occasional lunch downtown.

I use one for the Membership Rewards program---very flexible. I can convert points to one of six hotel programs, four different major airlines, or rental car benefits. Between that and my airline frequent flyer account, I took the family for a week long trip to Disneyland for next to nothing.

I used to like not having a limit, but as my other cards' limits have increased beyond what any mortal should spend on a credit card it just doesn't matter anymore.

Plus, since I don't carry a balance on any of my cards, the fact that AMEX is a charge card rather than a credit card makes no difference to me.

Yeah, but if you pay it off every month, what's really worth the annual fee?

my AMEX card is a delta skymiles card.

only reason i own it at all.
there's no annual fee and the miles add up pretty decent.

anything that will get me back to orlando without the horrible long drive is good

The flexibility of the rewards makes the fee worthwhile for me. But, I put a lot of business travel through that card, so YMMV.

According to the Getaway Guide, AMEX is back for this year, which I know will solve some unsuspecting guests' headaches. :)

It was never fun trying to explain why CP didn't accept a pretty common credit card.
