Dive-In Movies

So I was looking at the Passholder Benefits and CP just posted the Dive-In Movies for this year. Apparently, they're making them a long-term thing, as there is a movie showing every single Thursday that Cedar Point Shores is open this year.

I never go to them because I'll always focus on night rides and ERT on Thursday nights, but it's cool to see the park expanding their add-ons.

Thanks for the tip! Can anyone advise how the picture and sound are for these movies and do they set up actual chairs for seating or is it just the beach? We walked past it once a year or two ago while walking the boardwalk, but I didn't pay attention to or remember the specifics.

A free movie is a free movie, so I'm not looking for a full stadium seating theater comfort and experience. But I looked at the movie lineup and there are a few we would probably be interested to see with our daughter. We go over to the park often enough that it wouldn't be a sacrifice to swap in a movie night for a ride night.

Just wondered what the overall experience was like for others who took part during past seasons.

Rusty I'm pretty sure you are thinking of a different event. These Dive-In movies are at the water park, specifically the wave pool. You can just hang out in the wave pool with a tube, or lounge around the surrounding area.

There were occasionally movies on the beach during CP nights, and it's just a big inflatable screen with the movie projected on it. Quality was fine, totally watchable. I'd imagine the CP Shores Dive-In movie screen is the same thing.

You can sit in the chairs for the wave pool as well as the limited number of tubes usually available for the wave pool. I went twice last year including for jaws, lots of people were waiting for the gate to open and ran in to get chairs which had to be turned around from facing the wavepool to facing the new bar. The picture was fine but the sound had a terrible delay from the back speakers causing an echo.

Yes it's the same screen from the beach...sound was better on the beach.

I haven’t done one at a CF park put took the boys to one at Zoombezi Bay a couple of summers ago. It’s fine for a movie you have seen a bunch of times already I guess. There is generally a lot of commotion going on with people talking, parents drying their kids off etc. I am glad I took my boys for the experience but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it and the boys have never asked to go to another one.

Yep! My bad, but thanks for the CP nights review!

(and I suppose watching JAWS while IN the water would be more fun than watching JAWS while being just near the water)

Oooh, Spider Man is playing the week I was planning on going. I usually go in the middle of the week (Tue-Thurs) to try and avoid crowds, but I might just have to go Wed-Fri instead.
