Dispute over rides/attractions

I dont know if everyone is the same here but where I am from we see commercials for SFGA and they claim to have more rides than any other theme park on EARTH.
I thought Cedar Point held that record for the most rides at one park?
That commercial really bothered me..are they counting rides and attractions?(SF)when I was there I didnt even come close to counting more than 60 in their park.Ill have to get an accurate count but I think they are false advertising.

That debate broke out on usenet last year, and I think they were figuring in each individual water slide or something. I forget the specifics, but it was clearly a bogus claim.

Maybe they're counting all of the Six Flags parks combined. :)
Are you talking about Six Flags Great America or Six Flags Great Adventure? Because it you mean Great America, I find it even funnier since I saw a commercial for Great Adventure that claimed the same thing. That would be just like Six Flags to make that claim for two of their parks! :)

What could be better than Y2K @ Cedar Point - America's Rockin' Roller Coast?
Although SFGA does hold, I believe, the record for the most obnoxious costumed characters running around the park.
Im sorry I didnt make it clearer,it was Great Adventure in Jackson,Nj.I counted the rides from my map this past year and rides alone (excluding kiddie)are 38.So they must include their kiddie rides, shows, water park attractions, maybe games too I dont know but it doesnt even come close to over 100.Are they kidding or what we arent supposed to count?
SFGA counts each skeeball machine as a separate attraction.

Unlike PKI that counts each skeeball machine as a rollercoaster.

Remember, line jumping is NOT a sporting event!
I hereby nominate that last comment for Top-10 funniest posts on GTTP!!

I second that nomination! That would be an interesting thread, what's the funniest thing you have heard on GTTP?

I THIRD that nomination, for the first time I laughed pretty hard while reading a post. Good Comment!!!!!
At least they don't count 'Fascination'. =)

[As about 25 attractions...]
WEll heres another good laugh.I took it to a higher court..(God was at Cp riding MF at the time)so I asked SF management and they concluded that they are in dispute over it with CP because they indeed have the most rides AND ATTRACTIONS than any other theme park. They told me my count was incorrect and they were in fact adding in their kiddie rides and their Batman,Lethal Weapon and Dino Island attractions.I wanted to ask them if they also included their trees, bathrooms, midway games and restaurants also. They told me they would send me and my husband two gold star passes to use for the remainder of the 2000 season and conduct an ACCURATE count.Fools I say...fools!!!
I remember the SFGAdv commercials saying that last year. They did add a lot of stuff last year but I never made an actual count. They key is rides and ATTRACTIONS, whose to say what an attraction is. A bathroom is a pretty exciting attraction when you really have to go. So is a water fountain. Attraction is such a dubious term because nobody knows that even means it just a way for parks to pad there numbers. Still trying to figure out how Wyandot Lake (Columbus) gets to 60 rides and attractions - must count each and every video game and every soft drink dispenser.
Geez, you can't go by Six Flags commercials anyway. Last time I checked there was no red multi-looper at SFAmerica...
