I agree that there should be some way to adjust the seatbelts to be longer (if it's safe.) I'm still trying to figure out what God has to do with all this though :)

MALENEM FORSE!!!111 IT ROXOR YUR WORLD!!1!
A bad day at CP is better than a good day at work.
That's the thing.. with MF if they extend the belts much more, when the average person rides, they will have an excessive amount of belt not being used, and hence flying around and causing a possible safety hazard.
When they design rides, they are done to fit anyone just a little larger than the average adult. I have all kinds of problems because I'm 6'5". Things are done for safety people. It is NOT discrimination. Not in any legal or ethical sense of the word. It's how things are designed. And they are designed to be first and foremost.....

Okay, to be honest, this thread is confusing me. I will admit that I am a big person, and although I have lost fourty pounds in the past year, I am still overweight.
I haven't been to Cedar Point this year, but last year when I weighed fourty pounds more, I was able to ride Magnum, Gemini, Mean Streak, Blue Streak, Iron Dragon, Corkscrew, and most other rides.
I was not able to ride MF, Raptor, or Mantis, but I was able to ride Power Tower.
According to this thread, the father being talked about was not able to ride many of the rides that I went on last year, but was able to ride MF. This doesn't make much sense to me. I guess it is as much about your proportions as it is about weight.
Anyway, to be honest, I think that the seat belts on Millennium Force should be made longer. I sat in the test seat for Millennium Force and the bar was able to go down fine plus I had plenty of room in the seat. It was the seat belt that caused the problem, and since seat belts can be adjusted longer or shorter, making the seat belt a little longer would not endanger smaller people.
Anyway, I just find it interesting how the rides that people can't ride vary from person to person so much.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
hmm, i really dont want to piss anybody off by the following comment, that said, here goes:
I wonder if their is a weight restriction on the ride for safty reasons? maybe its not because of discrimination but because the train can only hold so much weight at one time ?
what would that have to do with the size of the belts? What is the train, maybe 1,000 to 2,000 lbs? y would it not be able to carry more than its weight?
i don't see why, because a train full of larger psople would make for a faster ride. (more momentum and inertia...so it's harder to slow down)
Every year you see unrelated news items about Americans getting larger (not necessarily nice news items, but anyway), and I wonder how the amusement industry does come up with their "average" figures when designing restraints. Comparing let's say the Corkscrew to Raptor, you can see the increase in size -- I know a lot of people have problems with the Corkscrew, whereas Raptor is quite a bit more generous.

Thank u CrystalKat for seeing my point. I do really want to know what they consider average size.
Discrimination? Have they been teaching a new definition to this word in school? I think the rides are designed to fit the average person. Just look at how many people actually get in the ride and have no problem riding compared to the person who can not fit. I agree with whoever said if they add an inch or two then what about the next guy who needs three inches. Or what about the child who is 47" or even 45". Should they start designing trains with sections that fit different sized and aged people? What next? A babycar seat placed in the cars at a mothers request? Of course not. It has to do with the average person, capacity and safety. It' too bad that everyone can't enjoy all the rides but that's life. And I did hear someone say in this thread about a class-action suit, yeah that's the answer. Another lawsuit so everyone really hates larger people. I am so sick of hearing stuff like that. And yes, americans are getting larger. So in 10 years are we going to see coaster track that is 12 feet wide and huge trains because we all just keep growing? Most of the problem is within ourselves. Surely if I couldn't fit in a coaster anymore because of my weight, I would start to worry about my healt rather than how wrong it is that I can't fit in a coaster train anymore.

Listen, I'm sorry about your dad not fitting into mos6 of the rides but they can't make the seat belts, any much larger, b/c the thinner person like me will be to loose from the seat. I guess I would write to CP about this in a calm fashion, and see what they say. Sorry.

"Stop worrying about your stupid back, and ride Mean Streak! You bunch of babies!"
By the way they even say on the magnum sign that you should not ride if you have excessive weight. And on Mine Ride, the lap bar goes down the same in the whole car, so if you have one excessive weight person in the car, then little kids would be unsafe, because the lap bar would not come down that far. My nephew never wants to ride again because some overweight person was in the same car, and made the ride like he was going to fall out. I would worry about his healh though.

TA2K Giga: First off I do discriminate against people who don't spell out their words. "U" is a letter, not a word, and "ppl" only makes me think "people per liter," and those are the rules we live by.
I understand you're angry, and I would encourage your family to contact the park's guest relations. However, rides are manufactured to accomodate as many people as possible.

Discrimination: Treatment or consideration based on class or category rather than individual merit;
partiality or prejudice: racial discrimination; discrimination against foreigners.
Nope-according to Webster-dont think CP is guilty of discrimination. CrystalKat had a valid comment when she stated that the "heavy set" population is indeed "growing" (no pun intended) and Central Ohio has the "honors" of having the largest overweight population in the US. But to imply that CP is guilty of discrimination when 1 out of HOW may riders can not fit is wrong. As a ride op there were MANY times I KNEW a person was NOT going to fit on Raptor, but I would try as best I could to get them in to ride. I think the issue here is when RIDE MANUFACTURERS start noticing that many many people can not fit in their rides, then a change may be made. But I feel comfortable when I state that "average" sized people are the MAJORITY and the MINORITY at CP, not larger people. I do believe someone here many months ago stated they rode in one of the "big boy" seats on a specific ride (he is "average" sized) and was VERY uncomfortable.
So what then? You design something for larger people so then is THAT "discrimination" against average sized people? Where do you draw the line?
I am sorry the original person for this thread did not get to ride everything, but to blame CP is just wrong. I had someone in my department say the SAME thing to me cause he weights 320 with a girth that would scare my horses, when I asked days later why he was mad at CP-he said "I know I need to lose weight, I have to lose weight now cause I have GOT to ride Millennium Force"
I suggest anyone in doubt about their physical capability of fitting to use the test seats Raptor and MF provide, remember its NOT the harness nor lapbar that is the important thing-its the ability to get the seat belt to lock!

I was checking out the MF seats today. The belts are connected to the same "chassis" as the silver (were black) side rails of the seats. The seat itself is independent from the sive side rails. The only part the silver bars really connect to the seat is in the back, so it looks like the seat can be adjusted. Don;t trust me though I am stupid park guest not an Intamin Engineer :).
Also yellow train rear static electricity grounding flap (mudflap thingy) was missing, or moved forward and Yellow and Blue had some funky wheel arrangements, like the left road wheels being the nylon whites and the right being the regular

Just for clarification on the Mine Ride issue, the lap bars go down to the same place regardless of if big people or little people or no people are in the ride. It only locks in ONE place. Period.
Don't argue, trust me.
