Disaster Transport/Avalanche Run

Hey what happened to all the good stuff on Disaster transport, most importaintly the recordings. That was the part that made this ride so fun. as we approach the "out of control section" we still say "im loosing control" They need to bring that back that was great. However i like that they redid the qeue lines. I'm only 20 so i dont remember avalanche run. Any memories of Disaster/Avalanche?

I like the new Disaster Transport theming. The ride theming itself is not as cheesy or corny as it once was. The queline theming still needs serious help!

Avalanche Run was cool, especially the thundering rumble of the vehicles running along the track. You could hear it across the Main Midway, and even out in the parking lot at times. I miss that era of the ride.

The switch was a good attempt to give rebirth to a ride that was very popular in the beginning, but very quickly lost its appeal. There were many indoor rides being introduced at the time at other parks, so I think CP tried its best to do what they could to give Avalanche Run a new life.

3 of the 4 times I rode Disaster Transport this year it had different effects.

Twice is had light spots everywhere (source 4's with gobos I presume), once it was totally dark except for some maintnance lights, and once there were a ton of star strobes.

I kind of like not knowing what will happen on the ride on any particular day. Maybe this was all just a fluke.

Sadly, Avalanche Run was built the year I was pregnant with my son, and I didn't make it back to CP until it was converted to DT.

I enjoyed the themeing of DT when it was new and worked. The robot kicked butt, the explosions and special effects during the ride were a bit cheesy, but different for CP.

Too bad they let it go as badly as they did. At least what they have now is better than all the non-working stuff.

My dad remembers AR being slow and boring. He said DT makes the ride seem like it is going faster because you can't anticipate the turns. I like the FX in the helix, but it sucks when CP just turns the lights out on the ride. The FX in the que are ok, but didn't work two weekends ago. ------------------

Avalance Run was a very cool ride to watch. I could stand for hours just watching it. The Disaster Transport came and now you can't watch it :( . The DT has went through alot of changes which really haven't been for the better. But at least they are attempting to make changes and that is good!
