Disaster Transport Question

If you had a chance to change Disaster Transport back to the way it used to be when it was Avalanche Run. Would you change it back or leave it as it is now? I personally liked it better when it was Avalanche Run & would love to see it like that again, but, I don't think that would happen. Maybe they should just get rid of the ride & put a new ride there. What are your thoughts?

I would like it removed..period. I would like to see some sort of B&M coaster over there, however, it seems that land is cursed because any ride which goes into that space turns out to be a disaster or removed.

i agree. but a new beginer or family coaster so they can keep the record and the rep, and the beach would be great for a flyer, IDEA!: the seagull! j/k

Wicked twister is a good ride! A flyer wouldn't be a bad idea, but it probably won't be very big. I want a smooth woodie. There's enough huge launch rides at the Po!nt.

Hey, I love Disaster Transport... hence the name :) I'm unfortunately too young to remember Avalanche Run, but I'd just like to see the new ride touched up a bit, it definitely needs to be um, modernized? :)

DT is a big waste of space. Nothing too special. I would like it removed for something actually worth the wait.

Flyer, Floorless, Woodie, and anything cool would be an excellent replacement.

I think I just like it because it's different. It's really the only themed ride, so I don't think it'd be right to get rid of it completely. If they were to replace it, they should add another themed ride I think. :)

Oh and yes, I realize disaster is spelled wrong in my name, too late to change it now, *sniff*

I sort of like the dt but I would like to see it removed and I have a really great idea maybe tear it down and then extend onto the beach and into the parking lot and build a pretty decent sized floorless I would love to see that! But the only thing with that is they wouldn't be increasing thier coaster count they would have the same number you could build a floorless and extend back behind Wicked twister and disaster transport and cut in to the parking lot they might be able to pull it off!

I like DT the way it is. Simply because my kids like it so well. It's a great entry level "coaster". Not to mention the fact that the line is usually a good half hour. This is a half hour in an air conditioned building. Thus, making it a great ride to burn up the high noon on a hot day.
As awesome as it is to go to Alaska for free, I think CP would definitely be better off by removing it to free up some space for another awesome B&M, perhaps a big floorless. I think CP would get a lot more publicity for having the biggest floorless coaster than whatever they'd lose for having "only" 16 coasters instead of 17.

DT is not that big, and wouldn't free up a lot of space, a coaster, with the exception of WT, takes up a lot of space, so I think removing DT is irrelevant to the addition of a new coaster to CP. DT has it's place, as does Mine Ride... I doubt you'll see a coaster come down at CP, unless something is terribly wrong with it.

Actually my parents say DT is much better in the dark! As Avalanche Run you could anticipate the turns and it seemed slow. So by enclosing the ride, you can't anticipate the turns and it seems faster. The ride is fun, but the theming is bad, and the building is an eyesore. However it does have its place bringing in families. Also it allows for people who can't ride the bigger rides enjoy a coaster. And I doubt it will go anywhere because I believe the building is also used as a warehouse or maintenance I forget which. Now on topic, I would paint the building a better color, and update the theme!

In a perfect world i would pick up the whole ride and move it to an area of the park where one wouldn't notice a big box cutting off the park from it's oldest and argueably best resource... the lake. It has it's place in the ride lineh up, but not right there.
I'd like to see it stay right where it is, and have it remained enclosed. It might not be a record-breaking, heart pounding ride, but as said before it has it's place. Not everyone wants to ride the larger coasters. Believe it or not, some people are afraid of heights(my friends for instance) but still wish to go on a coaster or two. Besides the A/C and protection from the sun is refreshing when it boiling outside.

I like it better enclosed. I rode it when it was Avalanche Run and it was a very mild family coaster short on thrills. Enclosed, you get a much better sense of speed, and the turns are much more fun because you can't really see the turn to anticipate it. I guess I'm saying the same thing newt's parents said, but it is true. It's still a nice family ride, but it is much more fun in the dark!

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

I like Disaster Transport. It's scary to me because it doesn't run on rails like most coasters and then some of the ride is in pitch black. Most rides I'm scared waiting in line for the ride but when I get on it I'm not scared anymore. But on Disaster Transport I was scared in line for it and when I was on I was still scared. That's why I like Disaster Transport. I think they should keep it but add more theming.
They should build a new B&M. Something like the launch on the Incredible Hawk but with floorless trains. That would be cool.

Though a floorless would be cool, removing a coaster means a chance of losing the record. They should build a small kiddy coaster in Kiddy Kingdom.

Although, as you can tell by my user name, Avalanche Run was the first roller coaster I ever remember riding. I do think DT is an eyesore, but the people who say that it has its place have a point. Its Cedar Point's only air-conditioned coaster and as far as I know its the only dark ride too.

While I would love to see DT removed, and replaced with a new coaster (I like the flyer idea), I think that for now DT needs to stay. It has sentimental value for me as it was formerly known as Avalanche Run, and it is unlike any other coaster at CP.

Another idea is a tall new B&M flyer. It would be awesome!

I remember When it was A/R, and the first year it was transformed into DT. i like it both ways. i remeber when it was AR seeing it vallied just sitting there on one of the straight pieces of track, i was so young i forgot the exact layout of the coaster tho. but i remember how "Exciting it was climbing the first hill and "speeding down those hills!". i think DT needs to stay and some renovation to the insides is in order.i remeber the long lines opening season and watching all the cool animatronics going and that dumb robot on the screen following you from room to room lol.
