disaster transport ?

I used to love this ride but I rode it July 4th weekend this year, why is it still open? It was soooooooooo hot in there it felt like your face was on fire! There is NOTHING inside there anymore. Are they planning on shutting it down or doing something different with it?

Nobody that knows the future for this ride, if there is anyone, is allowed to speak up. But we can all speculate :)

I think they are planning on running it just like they have for the past 21 years. :) Despite rumors and calls for its removal for the past 15 years, CP seems quite content to leave it alone.

I actually like disaster transport. Cedar point is all about coasters and a great variety of coasters. There aren't that many bobsled coasters around these days and it's important for Cedar Point to keep a great variety of rides. With keeping disaster transport they have a bobsled coaster which you can't find at most parks.

I would love for them to keep disaster transport but the ride was a big fail. I would much rather see it in the middle of the park or hidden away so you can build a nice coaster on the beach while still keeping disaster transport. I doubt that would happen but that would be my dream. The ride just does not belong on the beach. I could see it in a nice wooded area behind trees and stuff with a few renovations.

I like it too. And the line seems to be equal to what Magnum has on any given day. It's not like people aren't riding it. I just wish they could put in theming again and maybe fix the leaks in the building.

I rode Disaster Transport Labor Day weekend. The ride actually had some scenery rarely on before. The murals were all lit up, there were laser effects, there was an illuminated object in the middle of the helix, and there could have even been a sound effect (couldn't tell on that one). Disaster Transport was almost a decent ride last weekend.

I go to Cedar Point almost every weekend and everytime ive rode it the air conditioning was on so im not sure how you were hot. I rode it not too long ago but i noticed red lasers things in one of the dark tunnels and ive never seen them on before?-

RIP DEMON DROP I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU

I know what you guys mean. I NEVER go to CP on the weekends but I did one Sunday in July and I have to say disaster transport was a pretty good ride,

They had all these lasers on, some statue thing towards the end, this big moral after the lift hill where there's that big screen and something right before the last turn.

I think I might finally understand the theming problem. It seems that they only run the theming on the weekends when there's big crowds. Maybe the theming costs a lot to operate so they only run the theming when there's a big crowd.

I really enjoyed the ride with all the theming. It was actually a pretty good ride. I was very impressed. The theming is there, it's all there it's just not on during the week which can be changed with just one flick of a switch

i wish they would take the building down and bring it back to its original ride, avalanche run.

I haven't seen the theming on at all this year. Maybe I'm just going on the wrong days, but it seems silly to only turn on the theming on certain days. It's not like their electric bill would be that much more than if they left them off. I just don't get it.

Its not a terrible ride. I actually like it a lot better with all of the theming and lights turned off. Its just a cool feeling to be going around in the dark.

There were a few issues with Avalanche Run, including sand from the beach blowing in the trough. I sometimes thought it would be cool to get ride of the space voyage theme completely and retheme it to Peanuts.

However, I wouldn't spend another dime on the coaster other than paying a demolition crew to put it out of its misery. Replace it with another family friendly coaster, maybe a spinning wild mouse.

DT is a love/hate relationship ride. I always make fun of it, like telling little jokes about it and it's unique theme. But I still ride it all the time. Since I go alot on weekends, I get to see the "theme" turned on inside. You also can't beat the fact that there's Domo sitting at the top of the lift too....(but I think they took him down recently, though....)

If it's true that the "theme" is only turned on on weekends, the person responsible for that decision should be let go immediately.

Promoter of fog.

What or who is Domo?

After visiting a few different parks recently, I think Disaster Transport is just fine. Mostly because Cedar Point has so many other quality roller coasters. I think Disaster Transport, Iron Dragon, Blue Streak, and Cedar Creek Mine Ride are all excellent step up coasters for folks who aren't ready or willing to ride the bigger ones. And for the rest of us, we have an absolute crap ton of higher thrill coasters to go for. There are some parks where there are only one or two good coasters and the rest are the quality of DT.

And I don't know, I still love riding it. It's not scary, but it's fun.

Yawn......

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

As has been said, the Intamin Bobsleds are rare, and I actually like them (just wish they were longer), so I hope it stays.

Sure it's not that gorgeous to look at on the beach, but I love that we still have an indoor roller coaster...the closest thing we have to a dark ride.

The ride's entrance is hidden; it's almost as if CP wants it to die. Yet it continues to draw more interest than some of the park's newest attractions.

Believe it or not, though the ride is a shadow of its former self, I find it a bit charming that it still exists. It's unique; if you rid CP of rides like this (like Paddle Wheel), how long before you have a 100% corporate-feel park, with a mix of modern B&M / Intamin coasters and other cookie -cutter rides / attractions? Sadly, this seems to be the way CP is going...
