If it's anything like their Disney dirty dining special, it'll be a sensationalistic joke - like the rest of their newscast.

If you need a good laugh, follow this link ("Dirty Dining does Disney and uncovers some goofy health violations"). VIOLATION!

YIKES! Though this guy (Scott Taylor) and I share the same name (AND I worked in the media for 10 years), we are not the same person.

Well, at least, I am NOT him. :)

Wow, I thought I'd be hard pressed to find a dumber news bit than the "Streets of Speed" bit that Toledo 11 does, but this one seems to take the cake. Although harrassing drivers who are going three miles over the speed limit on some residential road is pretty funny, but not in a good way.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I saw the bit on Disney's Dirty Dining done by a local news channel in Cleveland. What do they need to be going to Disney for a story on dining cleanliness? I would figure that it would be a story for their local news in Orlando/Kissimmee, but not Cleveland. Sounds like someone talked the boss into giving them a free vacation while doing a "story".

Was CP's as lame as the Disney one? The Disney one was a waste of time, and nothing I found shocking or even that bad.

Just shows how the media makes crappy stories sound like a big deal in their teasers to get you to watch their lame news.

I hope this ends up on their web site. The lucky ones outside of Cleveland who don't get ACTION News will appreciate the laugh.

Whenever I struggle to watch that station, I always feel like I'm watching Hard Copy or a television version of the Weekly World News.

As predicted, there was nothing to the story. The reporter talked about a few minor violations that have already been corrected. Instead of explaining that, it was apparently a lot more interesting to flash a big red "VIOLATION" across the screen for each one (as if the reporter himself was the one who did all the dirty work and caught them with his "investigation"). As with the Disney piece, he failed to mention the few number of violations as a percentage of overall food operation. Is it reasonable for a food operation that size to never have a violation?

The best part was the quotes.

One, halfway through the piece: "Hey, Cedar Point, health inspector's telling you to clean upppppp!" The emphasis on the "up" was his.

The other was at the end - regarding the number of violation-free locations: "Hey, Cedar Point, pretty impressive. Way to go."

So, which is it?

I think everyone around here will know that this isn't a case of me being upset about a negative story about Cedar Point. I also know that those who have watched Action News know exactly what I'm talking about regarding their overall news operation!

I also enjoyed their "undercover" camera. Funny stuff!

It's creepy, but they're giving Fox8 a run for their money in terms of sheer non-newsworthiness.

I've never seen this newscast, being from Toledo, but I wonder how it compares to Fox 36 News at Ten in Toledo. That station is pathetic. Instead of how their slogan reads now, they should replace 'history' with 'better' to read: At ten o'clock it's news, at eleven o'clock it's better...

The whole story was stupid, and is typical of the sensationalistic fluff put out by that station. As someone who goes to restaurants way too often, it's easy for me to see with my own eyes that CP runs a sanitary, safe food operation.

Another funny thing this station did recently was a story on the Lake Erie Monster. They even showed a story the Weekly World News did on the monster! It's no wonder that WOIO is a video version of the Weekly World News. The story is on their website if someone wants to view it. *** Edited 5/21/2004 2:00:49 PM UTC by Pete***

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

This is also the station that the mayor banned in terms of direct access. While there was a story there, I don't entirely blame her.

It's hard to believe that Cedar Point gets nothing but accolades for their sanitary practices at Cedar Point. For the most part, you can see the food being made at food stalls, it can't be much different at the sit down restaurants. You can somewhat see Silver Dollar's food preparation area.

There are way to many things that can be reported on the news, so hopefully this news station gave them a good report. But it is somewhat frivilous unless it poses a hazard to the general public.

Fox seems to have the worst news teams, especially in Toledo. They borrow their weather report from another local station and they don't use reliable sources in their news report. If they wanted to know about something at Cedar Point, instead of asking Robin, they would probably ask his/her brother's best friend's mom and report whatever she said.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

You seem to be under the impression that the purpose of a news cast is to report "news." It isn't, of course. The purpose is to generate ratings.
