Digital Cameras

I'm only going for one day, and I plan on bringing a Digital Camera. Do you guys have any tips on when I should take pictures, where I should store it, and things like that?

When i went this year, i stored it in the car and i came out and got it and walked around with it and took pictures and then took it back and went back in. I took it in when it was near the end of the day and got some good pics with the sun still up, but got some good ones with the sun setting. I got a cool one from skyride, i turned around and took a pic of raptor going through the loop and the sun was there to silouette it, but sadly i lost that pic when i had to reboot my computer.

"If it looks good, you'll see it; if it sounds good, you'll hear it, if it's marketed right, you'll buy it; but... if it's real, you'll feel it."

I carried my digital in the cargo pocket of the shorts I was wearing. Even though some of the ride seats pressed against it a little, it was fine (as was my cell phone in the pocket on the other leg). When we went out to my car for a snack in the afternoon, I left it there so I didn't have to deal with it for the rest of the night.

Are you sure this isn't the Atlantic Ocean?

I usually carry mine around in a small fanny-pack while on rides, in my pocket other times. If you are worried about it you can always stow in in a locker - or take it back out to the car later in the day after picture taking.

I usually just carry mind around in a small pack I attach to my belt. It's a small, soft carrying case I can loop my belt through and it works great when I'm not taking pics. I usually just drop it in my pocket when getting on a ride and never have problems with it.. though I'm sure to hold my pocket down and make sure it doesn't fall out. ;)

Thanks for all your help! I'm still kind of wondering though, because my camera is pretty big. I prolly just do what one of you suggested, take my camera and pics around the end of the day.

Thanks again!

I carry mine around in my cargo pockets. I take it on as many rides as possible. Never know when you can get an awesome picture of a ride.

I used to carry it in my boyfriend's cargo pocket, but we have been there so many times, I just buy pics on coasters and at the front gate. I leave the camera in the hotel room or car.

I always have my camera with me. I'm actually adding it to my insurance policy just in case it would happen to fall out during a ride. I never use my camera on rides, but sometimes a moment arises that there just has to be a picture of, and you've just got to have a camera there to take the picture. Digital cameras are so small and take such good quality pictures, so just get one of those if you can. :)

It is most conveniant to just keep it in a secure fanny pack or cargo pocket, but if your camera is sensitive, it wouldn't be a bad idea to leave it in your car and then come back for it.

Terry on magnum is such a p****. I had a dig. camera bag with a place for my belt to go through to secure it, which is a hell of a lot more secure than a damn fanny pack. He said you can't bring it on the ride. i am like i have been here for 2 days and i have rode everything and have not had any problems. He says not on my ride. So i acted like i was leaving and went to the back of the train and boarded, when the train dispatched i gave him the finger while we exited the station, lol.

Aren't you the big man.

The better thing would to have asked to talk to the Team Leader and/or the zone supervisor in a nice tone of voice.

Yea, you acted like an ass. He was just doing his job and unless something has changed since last year, he was doing it correctly. Agree or not with the whole "what constitutes a fanny pack" thing, he was just doing what he has been told to do. I'm glad 99% of the guests aren't as dumb as you. You're the kind of person who would curse out the freeway person for making you go around to the regular entrance too. What a cool guy...

They could have (and should have) had the CP Police waiting on the platform to eject you from the park and possibly file charges aginst you when the train came back into the station.

Congratulations on winning the 'tardster of the week award.

Good call on the cargo pocket, I usually held it in my hands between rides and walking around hoping for a good picture opportunity to pop up, and then you put it in the cargo pocket for rides. I was a little scared on TTD, but nothing got banged up.

I wear mine on my belt. Only time I've had a problem (other then when trying to ride a PTC train wood coaster) is at Silver Bullet when they asked me to remove it. I almost lost my shorts in the process of removing it - oops.

The best time to take pictures is in the morning and late afternoon when the sun is at it's best. Considering the camera you have you can probably carry it in a pocket; but if it's something like a DSLR you'd have to store it in a locker or your car.
