Different Feelings Anyone?

What do you think is going to be the big difference this year between last while you wait in line for MF? The anticipation still going to be up there? Still going to wait in the looooooong lines? (hey, some may not this year)...maybe just the feeling of "wow, it's big" gone away? For me, I think it will remain about the same. Last year, while being my rookie season, I didn't really even have anticipation for the ride, but that was before I actually talked myself into riding it. I'm so looking forward this year to the first ride...just as much as the last ride. I got my season pass and I'm all set to go

I'm hoping that the crowd in line will be more like the Magnum crowd and less like the Raptor crowd this season. Not clear enough for you? Let me put it this way: The people are nicer in the Magnum queue than they are in the Raptor queue.

I agree with RideMan. I do think the anticipation will still be extreemly high though.

We bought a lifetime supply of pudding? How wasted were we last night?!
*Dude, Where's my car?*
Agreed BirdOfPrey - this year will be much the same as last year for my wife and I. Last year was our first ever time for season passes and we can hardly wait to start going this summer as well.

Very astute observation Dave -

I never thought about that, but maybe it's why I don't mind standing in line Magnum for a 1/2 hour but a 1/2 hour in the Raptor queue feels like eternity -

Why is that? It's the same people in the park, same people in the lines. But they ARE more friendly in line for the Magnum... Maybe we should do a psychological experiment this summer...

Less standing in the sun?

I have noticed a lot less line jumping on Magnum, though. Not sure why.
I have a theory about it, and I think my theory will be tested this summer in the Millennium Force queue. I think it's a subtle demographic difference brought on by the red candycanes. You find whole families in the Magnum queue. At Raptor, not only are the kiddies left behind...so are many of the parents. I think the broader demographic tends to moderate the crowd a bit.

The 3 times I was at CP last year, I really didn't notice a difference in the lines. All I do remember though is if they're playing good music in the queue, the people get into it a lot and its a lot of fun. I'll be sure to look more closely at how the ride ops work and how the crowds wating in the lines are this season

Yes, but with more adults in the Magnum line, you get more smokers as wel...

I guess that's not saying much since MF's line isn't any better.

I look forward to riding MF this year, anticipating the 1st ride of the season will be the best ride due to my b/f has never been on MF so I will get to hear him scream like a girl!! Of course I think we ALL will miss the excitement of our VERY 1st ride last year! The lines for MF will definitely be different this year due to lowering the height. I too always enjoyed the Magnum line. I found the Raptor line observation and comments rather interesting and have to agree. Raptor attracts a different "kind" of rider. We dont have younger kids in the line the kids we do have (17-20) seem to run a muck. (ex: loud, obnoxious, dirty mouths, and disrespectful)
Being 95% in the sun MAY have something to do with it but I doubt it-it didnt effect my behavior despite the temperature. Did my behavior differ with the crowd I was with? Sure. When I was with my kids Im pretty quiet, with my b/f I anticipate being "busy", and with any of my CP buds Im crazy and siked to ride!! So maybe the groups of people Raptor attracts just are bad influences on each other. I can however vow that they are the DIRTIEST group of people I have EVER seen. The Raptor queue line clean up on Saturday nighs made me wish I was cleaning out 30 horses stalls instead. I rest my case!!

If some guys consider themselves "Chick Magnets"
then can I consider myself an "Idiot Magnet?"
hmmmmmm
The big difference for me this year will be if the ride is down for more then 15 min. while I am in line, then I will not wait like I did last year. Hope that they have all the bugs worked out. My anticipation could never be the same as the first ride, because I did not know what to expect as I do now.

MF Rides=50
Dave-

I never thought about that... more kids=tamer crowd because of parents... the coasters w/higher heigth restrictions have more of a teenage crowd... you know us teenagers, we just cannot not cause trouble! (please note sarcasm)

Yes, Good Point, That is if the kids just over the candycane want to ride. I have a feeling most 8 and 9 year old kids are going turned of by the ride. I once rode with someone who had to have been around 13 and she was hyperventilating as we departed the station, just like I was when I rode Magnum in 89. Once you get them on one of these, they will love them.

The Magnum was 400 feet tall in 89, to me anyway. I guess it sank over the years ;)

That's what I'm talkin about...even last year I vowed I'd never go on a ride that needed a strobe light at the top to warn planes of high rides...but as you can see by the signature, I broke that pretty easily. First AND Second MF ride: 9/23/00...3rd, 4th, and 5th: 10/6/00...6+: 5/6/2001

CPBound says

"Yes, but with more adults in the Magnum line, you get more smokers as wel... "

What difference does that make? Damn kids smoke too with no parents. (I am a damn kid, but I sure as heck don't smoke. I act mature and ENJOY the rides)

I think everyone gets the feeling of butterflies in their stomach when the are on the ramp and can actually see the beast up close because the trees aren't blocking it anymore. and you think "am i actually going to ride this? it's pretty fricken tall man"
Yup, I remember the first time I rode it, I suddenly had to "pee-like-a-racehorse". ;) But then when I got in the MF train, the feeling was gone. Talking about this year though, I am so pumped to ride it again! I've been waiting ever since LAST June to ride it again, and I'll finally have my chance in a month. :)
There are some things in life that get boring...movies, music, etc. when you hear them over and over again. There is nothing in the world that can prepare you for a drop of 300' or even 50' on Wild Cat. You can't simulate it anywhere, and everytime its just slightly different, especially when you say to yourself, its not that bad..and then whoosh! down the hill you go! Signature is up to date now with this year's totals...but my life time total so far on MF: 14..whoopdi doo ;)
