Did the power really go out tonight?

Is it dark at 11:00 PM? That's what I heard

Yes, we were at the park tonight, in line for Cedar Downs, and the power went out on the Raptor side of the midway. From the main gate to where the Dodgem once sat, everything went dark. The Main gate, the Carousel and Bluestreak kept their power. The center of the midway, flowers and fountain, also lost power. The rest of the park had power. This happened about 9 o'clock. When we left a little before eleven the power was still out and temporary flood lights were being set up. Stranded the Sky Ride for about 20 minutes before they had power to bring the cabins in. The power was also out in Breakers East and along the boardwalk in front of Breakers East.

I was in Frontier Town when it happened. Back there the lights all turned off and less than half a second later turned back on. If you weren't paying attention, you probably wouldn't have noticed it.

From our point of view we found Millennium Force and Rougarou closed. And everything on the Raptor side of the midway and the center lights on the midway was dark. The skyride building down by Corkscrew was dark, along with Scrambler, yet Matterhorn was up and running. The skyride building by the front entrance was lit up. They had temporary gas powered lights setup by the time we were leaving the park tonight. It was definitely not a normal walk out of the park.

We were in the middle of dinner when it went out at Midway Market. They let us go to Pinks to get a refill on our drinks.

Got in line for TTD about 10:15. We were in the station about 10:55 when the lights went out on the top hat. I mean all the lights except the FAA strobes. We couldn't see the top hat from the station.

Walking out of the park shortly after that, it was obvious something was wrong. Scrambler, the Ferris wheel, and Raptor were completely dark. The wheel is never dark. They leave those lights on all night and all winter is seems.

They lost a circuit. A long time ago they learned not to pull all their power from the same transmission lines. I seem to recall that they get service from at least three circuits that aren't pulling from the same feed. A total black out means that there is a serious system failure in Northern Ohio.

We were in the park then as well, walking through the midway after Luminosity and noticed the power outage along the Raptor side. We took a spin on the MIdway Carousel (with a very crabby, long winded, and authoritative ride operator barking out a long spiel of safety instructions and stern warnings). We left the park after that ride through the beach entrance by the Wind Seeker and walked along the sidewalk to the back lot by Soak City where we parked. The portion of Breakers power was still out, but came back on right as we were walking through the dark area. It was probably about 10:45 or so when the power came back on there --> as we walked past TGIFridays I saw the Pirates/Dodgers game on ESPN inside the bar. Score was tied in the 10th inning with bases loaded and Pedro Alvarez at bat. I stopped and commented to my wife that he was about to win the game for the Bucs (and then he did two pitches later!)

Dark ride teaser.
