Despite the fact...

Despite he fact that GL is closing...CF is building a new coaster at Canada's Wonderland.

Press Release: http://www.rcdb.com/document270.htm

Sounds like its going to be a good ride but wouldn't a park of that size be better off with one of the leftovers from GL and give a nice boost to one of the smaller parks?

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

Yeah, because SFDL's Superman worked out so well for that park...

Fluffy, heres the deal, the big parks get big, expensive rides because they pull in a lot of people and make lots of $$$. Smaller parks get smaller (which is not always bad) rides because they pull in less people and make less money for the chain.

Park of that size? Wonderland isn't really that small of a park. With the addition of Behemoth (which by the way is old news) the park will have 15 coasters. A coaster like that is long overdue at Wonderland.

Wonderland pulls in more people per season than CP does. In the business world, that's far more important than the physical size of the park.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

cp charges more for everything and people are willing to pay for it because the rides are the worlds best

its not about attendance---its about profit

CW is a park neglected from a "major" roller coaster. Behemoth is just that and I think Cedar Fair made a good choice.

The article also says it's been 18 months in the works now, before Cedar Fair had taken over the park

^^^Are you kidding? Have you ever been to Wonderland? Admission is higher, food prices are higher, but parking is the same. People are willing to pay because it's the only amusement park in the area.

^ as a matter of fact Valleyfair! charges more for food than CP too. They need to make up for their severe lack of attendance by making an absurd profit in every hot dog.

I seem to recall Wonderland having the highest attendance of any park in North America recently. They should have had this ride years ago.

Not only does CW have the highest attendance, it also probably has the most untapped potential. Toronto is the continent's fourth largest city, and CF virtually has it all to themselves. This is one park that ought to see a lot of investment dollars coming in future years.

Did I just agree with Jeff? Excuse me, gotta check my lymph nodes. Probably some kind of viral infection. ;)
