Demon Drop: The Expansion Theory

Ok, so here is the only theory I can come up with that makes any sense in my mind as to why Cedar Fair would send Demon Drop to Knott's...

The Expansion Theory: Since CP has maintaining or steadily decreasing attendance over the past few years, Cedar Fair has recognized that it can no longer expand it's attraction line-up without losing money, therefore, since Shoot the Rapids is going in for 2010, something that requires a similar maintenance and staffing would have to go, enter...Demon Drop.

Now, if you take those same reasons and apply it to the rest of the Cedar Fair Parks, this may be the same reason why Demon Drop was not sent to a smaller park like Michigan's Adventure. Since many capital projects are already underway at other Cedar Fair parks, Knott's may have been the only park ripe for expansion that could financially obsorb Demon Drop into it's line-up.

Does this make any sense to anyone else or am I crazy? I'm just still trying to get my head around the logic behind this transfer. It still puzzles me...your thoughts?

try this. http://pointbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/24595.aspx People are explaining their theories well.

I don't think your crazy. I was thinking the exact same thing. Trouble is, people think I'm crazy . . . so what does that say?

Long time lurker who used to be JUMBO JET.

It seems smart enough. Demon Drop had very low ridership in the last several years, and I think that as a "new" attraction at Knott's, it could regain some potential for new ridership.

Everyone thinks you're crazy if your theory doesn't agree with theirs. CPcyclone your theory could be right just like everyone else's. The only people who truely know are the people who decided to move it out and for what reason. Fans like use don't really know whats going on until it happens.

my fav. rides:

1) M-Force
1) Maverick

I think people should just move on from Demon Drop and the company's decision, and let us all just wait to see what comes from that area. ;)

CP has been maintaining steady decreases in attendance? That's news to me, seeing as it was up last year and the year before. Not this year though...

A lot of that is due to the local economy. It seems like almost every business has been making cuts which makes it hard on hard working families to go out and have fun.

[url][url]In an economy like this, vacations like Cedar Point are the first things families will generally cut, and although most of the enthusiast community will continue to regularly attend, a lot of the GP is more willling to not do a CP trip this year.

As the country works its way out of this difficult recession, I think we will gradually see a rise in attendence rates at all Cedar Fair parks.

As for DD, I agree with that we should just see what comes out of the board's decision. I really do think that it was a good idea. If something's new at any park the GP will ride it, even if the ride itself isn't new at all.
